@Kirwan That is seriously scary. It's hard to remember when they last played such a terrible all round game to the point of screwing up the basics like ball retention and not kicking it away all the time. Add in shite discipline...and yeah.
We have played much worse games than this IMO. The win against Argentina was a worse performance for sure.
Don't think the defence was as poor in that game.

83-28. That stat is the Aussie vs ABs starting forwards no. of carries. I know stats of possession are heavily in favour of Aussies but I have been harking into this for a while. Modern defences can handle us a little better. We struggle to make in-roads because we no threats! Moody and Franks 1 combined carry!!!!
It shows Aus we’re making yards up the middle, something they ABs don’t seem to want to do anymore despite it being obviously the best tactic in test rugby.

A 20 point hiding added to the 2 previous shit performances.... I don’t think anyone is over reacting.
Before I can figure out if we are overreacting when you say two previous shit performances are you talking South Africa/Argentina this year or Ireland/England at the end of last year?
I wasn’t even taking into account last year.
So that makes it 5 shit games in a row.
We’re screwed. -
Mounga looked overawed and Barrett was stepping up big time in that 2nd half. To be fair with a red card, sold out stadium and an unusually rampaging wallabies against us being overawed is perfectly normal for a newbie.
Very disappointing result but hard to say how this promising team went as the carding threw a right wrench in the works...it would also be unfair to say the result was entirely due to the card, the Wallabies were excellent, fast paced rugby, starving us of possession and never taking their foot off the throat. Very un-wallaby like!
Silver lining is the kick in the ass at the right time, we were starting to click just prior to the carding and there were some glimpses of brilliance as we got desperate. Read,Coles,ALB and Barrett all to my mind looked good and we still scored 2 tries with a man down.
One more silver lining is next week is now an absolute must see event. Can't wait!

@Steven-Harris My contention is that Hansen has handled him wrong, as Graham Henry pointed out. The same way Hansen f*cked up with Steven Luatua - a better player than any of the bums available now.
Maybe. Weepu and Nonu both nearly walked to league after being treated similarly in 2007 and Kaino could have easily gone to Europe at the same time without too much concern. It turns out higher standards for all three was what was required. Who is to know, but it does seem they are holding Akira to a different standard to most others.
-
@Tim we are not talking about an 18 year old , we are talking about a talented grown man that needs to work out in life what is required to become the best that he can be as a professional rugby player.
I don’t think Hansen suffers fools, it’s not a class for slow learners,
I am still trying to work what you do with a guy who turns up to an All Black training camp and then decides he should go out drinking until 3 in the morning.
I am still trying to work out how Hansen could have handled a guy who obviously can’t be told ..and boy does it not show up in his game..If you are given a simple task, you complete the task required.
As for Henry, he can count his lucky stars he was’nt railroaded after the 2007 RWC debacle.. -

that was a brutal reality check, and i would love to think there is something to say that it was part of some master plan
Our pack is shit. shit. Moody and Franks are bog ordinary props who scrum okay but that's it. Coles is good, but only in the wide channels. S Barrett is a substandard inernational lock. Which unbalances S whitelock. Savea was good, but as a 7, i thought read was pretty good, Cane was poor. Unsurprisingly it was unbalanced. Our pack reeks of 2003.
Mounga was fucking shit. Take some sort of control you are wearing 10. There is bugger all talking about the rest of the backline because they were bsing shovelled shit. Except Ben Smith, who looks terrible
We are in a deep deep hole
And we will probably win next week , which will be a band aid for all the problems that will resurface later

I would go further: ABs lost to Wallabies & SA
They should have lost to Pumas in BA & ENG in London + Boks in Pretoria
Draw vs Boks as well
Their last good performance vs Serious competition was against Pumas last year in 2018 TRC in Buenos Ares
I dismissed the games vs Tier 2 nations in Italy & Japan

That's the whole problem in the way the 10-15 combo works at the moment. Barrett as the senior player is way too dominant. That was esp clear in the first half. It's not just a matter of RM taking control; it's also a matter of BB letting him take control.

We looked best when Beauden came into the line. The RM/BB combo has potential but Mo’unga is not up to it at this level at this stage of his career. We have to shelve that idea, put Beauden back at 10 and BFA at 15 where his lack of pace is not such an issue.
That said, if we play props that offer less than 0 around the field we are going to really struggle against the big boys.
-
@rotated I know it's a petty thing, but it really pisses me off when he shrugs and says it's just rugby. These are not primary school friendlies. NZ has long been at the forefront of the international scene because we were always innovating, always fitter, always ready to pounce, always had the measure of other teams.
Now it feels like we're just stagnant, and cruising on past glories. Sure, we've been a bit unlucky with injuries to a few key players like BBBR, but the whole fucking defence system shouldn't break down because one guy isn't there. As for our attack...yikes. Half the time it looks like our backline were introduced during the anthems.

Ah, another TSF meltdown. Everyone completely overreacting as usual.
oh you can absolutely fuck up. You are opinionless, a massive AB suck up. And, becasue a few of your darlings were the worst on the field tonight, no one should say anything? piss right off, this is as bad as i can remember us in years

So it's not working
Pick BB at 10 and Smith in his best position. That works.

I like it when you've been at the races all day.
You're so salty.
-
I haven't read the thread so I may be repeating what has been said, but this game shows how much we miss BBBR. The forwards got outplayed and outmsucled. If you don't have the ball it's hard to win any match. Franks confirmed he is well past it and Moody didn't exactly do much better. Hansen needs to make some tough decisions for Auckland.

No, keep RM and BB at 10 and 15. BB should allow RM to take control. Drop BFA and give Ennor the starting 14 jersey.

I for one have long cut this coaching team plenty of slack, they earnt it.
But they have eroded all my confidence in their abilities in the past few months.
We look directionless, devoid of ideas, with little punch, and the way guys are playing, out of form too.
I think this might be the next nail in the Fozzie coffin too, even a RWC win might not save him at this point.
