his defence as well but still rate him above Perry
In case anyone has doubts about the validity of S Barrett's Red Card:
-
@sparky Thought Furlong destroyed him in the first two scrums but Big Karl came back really well and had the upper hand in the next few. But he fell off a few tackles in that game however, and really needs to work on his defence. I am not so optimistic about our propping stocks, we have props who are decent scrumagers (Franks and Moody) but can't do much else, or others who might be good around the field but aren't great scrumagers (Ofa, Moli, Angus). Also, surely it's time to start Laulala ahead of Franks now.

So I we going to bring in another lock and go with our hybrid policy. Couple of those Wellington locks looked impressive this year. I thought Read had a good game tonight and one of his better games in a while. We need more from our forwards but not sure from where. I think the games where the cantabs lost they were dominated in the forwards. They were just a superior “team” unit that allowed them to win. We can not rely on this core unit to suffice at international level. Changes at props are needed. Reece is not good enough at international level. Too small and his success was a matter of him playing in a good team at super rugby level. I guess we have to have a 15 wing hybrid so that rules out Naholo so you get stuck with less pace and a pure winger. Not sure the 10 15 combo is that bad. We were just beaten in the forwards.

@Jaguares4real who cares? We shouldn’t be doing that stupid shit in the first place. I would be more concerned about his overall refereeing skills and not picking up on forward passes etc.

One of those scrums Furlong got a way with early push before the bind. Arguably ought to have been penalty to ABs. Agreed that by halftime Karl had squared the ledger.

Totally. A hopeless ref who has a terrible habit of guessing. Shouldn't be let anywhere near knockout stages.

Sure enough, the lesson the brains trust have picked up was 'well, there was a red card, so we don't really know'...

Forwards weren’t up to it. Playing 2 sevens is a stupid idea, you’ve all chastised Australia for doing it for ages.
When we do it, you’re all super excited all week that this team is going to cut them to shreds.
Savea has to start, Cane was ineffective.
Scott Barrett too small for an international lock, Patrick Tuiplotou is soft as shit. Got bullied in every breakdown he attended.
Franks is terrible, just waddles about the field waiting for the next scrum. Coles too loose to start these days. Moody lazy.
Hope they don’t start Richie in the World Cup, because based on the reaction here he’s gonna get blamed for our piss week forwards losing it.

@Donsteppa fuck our press are arse lickers
Such was Garcès' dramatic intervention it was difficult to get a read on whether the All Blacks improved much on their previous two tests of the year or not.
Before the card we had 20% possession and less territory. We were being dominated. Every time we got the ball we either kicked out away or dropped it. Utter crap
-
Well, I pulled the pin at half time last night and glad I did so.
Really, what did we learn
-
the Wobbles were playing really well, good up tempo rugby
-
ScoBa made a terrible decision to charge. Just stupid - you must wrap no matter what. Stick the arm out, it's yellow/pen at worst
-
While we were 15v15, we' were bloody close.
-
Our attack is back! We struggled to score, but looked good when we had ball in hand ... please no more chip kicks, or super flat balls to players on the line. We just threw the ball back to them so often.
-
OVerall, we're not playing brilliantly, and have a forward pack that is at risk of getting dominated for extended periods. By the Wallabies (who have a decent pack at the moment)
-
Ironically, losing Folau could be a blessing in disguise. Great rugby player, but not the best fullback I don't think ... kind of like BB at 10; he's a great rugby player, but not always the best 10
So, where does this leave us? We still don't know our best 6, we still don't know our midfield, our right wing is still a major headache, and our tight five look slow and physically ineffective without BBBR. Eden Park will be critical for us, but I am not going into this RWC with much confidence.
As for the 47, you can't read too much into a half of rugby with 14 men. They played up tempo footy and sapped our legs... it can always end poorly. Despite that, we still scored two tries and I can't think of anything else that's positive.
