Not sure we shouldnt start with Taylor instead of Coles either.
Obviously Franks has to go, Smith to fullback and BB to ten, but maybe Whitelock as captain so we can sub Read if we need to.
You just know these clowns with have Fifita on the bench covering lock next week.
I far prefer we start with Taylor and TJP for the early exchanges, then finish with Coles and A Smith when the game opens up.

A bit of hypa-bowl goes a long way after an AB loss.
Never a fan of losing especially to the Aussies, but I do like that we are going to have to come up with something different. I’m optimistic about what lies ahead for Eden Park. Aussies on a high, we’re in a hole - has the makings of a big test match.
alright mate. normally, i am with your. but...
being that your bloked are filling the big fucking holes in our team, and have been doing the same for a couple of years, and one of them is now suspended
how do we just switch on next week?
I think we got a bit shell shocked by how some of the bigger bodied Wallaby forwards hit the line. The reason our missed tackle count was so high. A lot of those were first up guys falling off OZ forwards running at pace and sting.
It’s a very new pack for the Aussies. So they had front foot ball and had a halfback that knows how to use it (not Genia and Phipps who both fluff about).
So defensively we make a few adjustments.
Am a bit concerned about Cane as he got banged up a bit tonight. Not concerned about what he offers but more about him getting the stuffing knocked out of him.
i can't get with the fact we were surprised by anything to be fair. they play each other every week, video analysis exists.
i feel like we are makig excuses based on history

So ex-Canterbury and Crusaders Assistant Steve Hansen can lose the world #1 record, RWC and Bledisloe he was handed by Henry all in a couple of months?
You have to add something to the All Black legacy he said. Well the failed Lions Tour and first losses to Ireland did that.
edit @Kirwan beat me too it.

What's wrong with Reece at 14?
Terrible defence at SR and NPC level. Caught out of position against Argentina.
To give him credit He made one of the best tackles I've ever seen a winger make on his own goaline vs a rampaging backrower (Kramer)
He should have been dragged over the try line yet Reece stoned Kramer on the gain line
But he was badly exposed in 2nd half but BBR and BB saved his ass

@Chris-B Retallick is the key, as well as a bigger and more physical no 6 (just don't know if we have one). Hopefully BBBR can come back in time and not redislocate his shoulder again when he's back. Apparently the chances of that happening is pretty high.
Yeah - I think we're fucked if we don't have Retallick. Don't know that we've got the six we need in the squad still, but Frizell or Squire can do the job.
I don't agree at all with those slamming Mo'unga in this game - but, a problem with having all of him, Beauden and Aaron Smith on the park is that you've got three pretty small backs out of seven - guys who aren't going to make dominant tackles. So - good offensive option, but a defensive weakness - especially when our forwards are getting dominated as well.
Much wrong tonight - let's see what our coaches can do to rectify it.
-
@mariner4life but we have never played this pack before and some of these guys don’t have a huge highlights reel.
We were outplayed no doubt about it and I think both of us were saying pre game that we had better be up for this given the size of their pack. We weren’t and we got a lesson.
Hopefully we learn from it.
-
@ACT-Crusader my issue is, what's the lesson? what did we learn? If it is not selection related, we are still in trouble.
I hate to bang a drum, but shit a guy like Akira would have been alright tonight

Ben Smith looking shit on the wing...again....
Sad to see such a great old war horse play so poorly, but he was utter shite this evening. Time to put in the younger guys who are faster and hungry for success.

Worst loss I can remember against Oz.
The one in 2011 felt similar , but we lost players through injury , this one was worse because we looked clueless
Just clicked now but 2008 Sydney beats 2011 Brisbane for me and I was at both. It was the first Deans vs Henry test, so high stakes and without McCaw they were woeful, ill disciplined and looked impotent on attack.
2011 Brisbane had early injuries + RWC naming that week + Crusaders players gassed. Despite that they came out at half time and showed the ability to "flick the switch" and Nonu/Smith especially carved them up. In the end they lost to a pretty flukey try (Wayne Barnes special from memory) so it was a similar script to Hong Kong where they dug themselves a hole in the first 20 minutes, showed enough mettle to get out of it before bottling it in the end. The only concern coming out of that game going into the RWC was the Read injury.
Anyway the long and the short of it was in 2008 they were able to get things back on track fairly quickly - but a lot of that was McCaw coming back. Brodie could have a similar effect but he won't be there.

Would like his experience on the bench though, covering 15-13
So I'd expect Hansen to pick him at 13 for the injured Goodhue then....
-
@Chris-B Thought Mo'unga wasn't that bad either but like you said, can we afford to have three smallish and relatively weak defenders in Smith, Barrett and Mo'unga. I don't think we can, especially when the pack is showing fuck all physical presence.

It is actually alarming that we are playing so badly. No gameplan, poor discipline, terrible handling...Aussies are outplaying us everywhere.
Less time on the PR trail and more back to basics, me thinks.
Absolutely nails it. Key thing is to remember how much this shameful, disgusting performance hurt and lear from it.
The ABs have spent too much much time believing their own legend and being piston wristed gibbons in public about it. Time to work very, very hard indeed on the basics of catch, pass, defend, push, kick and run.

He wasn't good
Q: When was the last time he played well?
2 Test matches ago against ArgentinaQ: What was different?
He was at fullback
