TRC: Wallabies vs Los Pumas

I'm not sure I need to go - again - into why schools Rugby and the pathway are a fucking joke here.
Related tidbit: some private schools with long Rugby histories are getting Aussie Rules football posts installed. The AFL bring buckets of cash when they decide they want something.

Might be a question for the Aussie rugby in general thread, and i hope no one takes this the wrong way, but do white guys not play rugby in Australia any more? Where are all the private school boys these days? AFL?
On their iPads.
Plenty of white boys still playing but the Pols are bigger and better.I wonder if that is a result of more polynesian guys getting into academies etc earlier on and benefiting from the development where that develooment was traditionally done at rich private schools.
I definitely think so. Lots are getting scholarships. My son goes to a private school and there are a good number of Islanders there. Very few are paying students.

Nudgee College (which has produced a ton of Wallabies) has signed some massive development deal with Tottenham Hotspur. All about the money.

Just to be clear:
Are the likes of your son and his contemporaries on a Rugby or Academic Scholarship?

What are you suggesting? That Pols aren't smart enough to get academic scholarships?
-
I am asking the question as someone who is not familiar with the education systems of AUS/NZ?
No need to be so defensive

Sorry I couldn't resist
Rugby and/or athletic scholarships. My son has a half scholarship for swimming. My youngest who will start next year has an academic scholarship. The exam was at the start of the year and well over half those sitting it were Indian. So really, if Pols don't get scholarships they don't really have a pathway to the next level and will likely turn to League. That's the paradox of the private school system. Great at producing talent but too much of a closed shop.

@Rancid-Schnitzel fucking tiny shop as well. Rugby union ignored so many kids with talent and league snaps them up.

It's difficult because a club team will often be decimated when the boys get into high school and have to prioritise their school. But there are still enough players to keep the club comps viable. It's just it's the schools or bust. Maybe the schools could include games against certain clubs?
But yeah, club rugby basically redundant by year 8 and no games on freetoair TV. What a surprise the game is in the poo.

@Rancid-Schnitzel The schools system is fucked. Here in Sydney it's 6 games per season because they've decided there should be 3 separate competitions (not counting the rural areas) and therefore you very guys going into Colts who can't pay a whole season after a few years away from club.
No wonder our skill levels are fucked for those on the golden pathway
