    Well that was a good piece of news to wake up to.

    Matt Henry bowling extremely well. Fancy that.

    Just call us Pakistan 1992....we got this fellas.

    Santner was absolutely phenomenal in the middle stages. Just so you know.

    Easy to look good when Henry has decimated and demoralised the top order.

    Brilliant that they kept panning to Rod Latham during the latter stages of the game. Tears of joy this time I hope mate!!

    They kept panning to Hamish Marshall as well. He must be leading a tour group?

    Then they put another indian in the comms box with that lady and it was just awkward

    Just watched the highlights on Sky UK.

    Much as I like Ian Smith, he was embarrassing to listen to in this match

    He was, but he needed to balance out the pro India crap from the rest of the box.

    Look, I know we are shit, flaky and have our limitations. But when you are 11-3 and hit a boundary, commentating “Normal Service resumes” is straight out disrespectful.

    One of the Indian comms, and I quote, said "come on India, you can do this!!". Doull and Smithy had to do something to balance out that bullshit. In the end it just made the win that much sweeter.

    I actually don't mind commentators supporting one side as long as they still call it accurately. There is a limit to that of course but when I used to listen to npc commentary on radiosport they'd often have clearly parochial commentators calling the game, but it always added to the game. They were clearly passionate and hearing the bitter disappointment in their voice when they were losing and the elation when they were winning addedto the intensity for me.

    The look on Ganguly's face when Smith is going ballistic after the Dhoni runout was priceless. He (Ganguly) was getting annoying at the end before the collapse. Manjrekar is the worst of the Indian comms with his bias. Bhogle is the most impartial.

    All are better than Slater though.

    Makes me wish we had a better balance between ex players and reporters. Being an international cricketer gives some insight into the mindset of the players but doesn't necessarily make good commentators.

    Bhogle almost always sounds upbeat. At one stage last night he said something like - "It's the world Cup semi and the Kiwis are winning" - and sounded pleased about it.

    I quite liked Ganguly's commentary overall - he was asked early on if he was nervous - and he admitted he was.

    I didn't really mind any of them frankly. I thought it was perfect

    ...and as he types...

    Fuck DLS. Dhoni is going to fuck up and that's India shot.

    Coffee and and a Coca-cola in each hand for most of the morning, but utterly worth the last two nights.

    Have a slight preference to play England in the final;

    1. It'd mean a new CWC winner either way
    2. It'll save me nightmares about the first over from Starc for the next couple of days 🙂

    @mariner4life while he can fanboy with the best of them Smith is on the whole a pretty measured commentator. I reckon he calls things fairly and is definitely excited about good cricket, no matter who is playing it. Always liked how he genuinely praises good stuff by players from any country. Certainly doesn't shirk on calling out our shit either.

    Ohhh if we do play Oz in the final what are the chances he commentates with Slats??

    for cricket yes. Ever watched a rugby game when a Hawkes Bay player was playing? I thought he was coming in his pants when ever Dagg touched the ball.

    Well, the guy’s from the Poo originally, it’s no surprise he latched onto us and became the uber fan.

    What they won?

    Too late to jump on the bandwagon?

    Plenty of room, we can shift wagons off the back of the Warriors bandwagon.

    Prime will be screening the final live, so I can watch while I listen to radio sport!

    @Hooroo First one:

    "Eating crow is a colloquial idiom, used in some English-speaking countries, that means humiliation by admitting having been proven wrong after taking a strong position. The crow is a carrion-eater that is presumably repulsive to eat in the same way that being proven wrong might be emotionally hard to swallow."

    Mine is an Indian Myna bird - considered a pest in NZ.
