Wow! If Cane doesn't play and he is definitely out we will lose by thousands this weekend
We might need some of those NRL cardboard cutouts for our forward pack...

Has he managed a season of professional rugby yet?

@antipodean Not a SR season; don't know about Mitre 10 Cup. This article from Rugbypass lists his string of injuries:
After making his Chiefs debut in 2018, Jacobson took a knock to the head in the final round of the competition and missed the entire Mitre 10 Cup. Last year, concussion limited his appearances for the Chiefs but the promising loose forward was still selected in the New Zealand national squad for the first time.
Jacobson was initially selected to travel to Japan – despite having played less than a half of rugby for the All Blacks – but was pulled from the competition before he could take the field. He made two appearances for Waikato last year prior to the World Cup but, after returning home, focussed on fully recovering from his concussion symptoms.
Jacobson then injured his hamstring during the 2020 pre-season and managed just 20 minutes against the Brumbies before re-aggravating the injury, which kept him off the park until the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition kicked off following the shutdown due to COVID-19.
Super Rugby Aotearoa still has eight weeks to run (although the Chiefs have a bye in the final week of the competition) then the provincial season is due to kick off three weeks later. Jacobson will likely be targeting a return to action with Waikato – though there’s a chance the 22-year-old could be selected for one of the composite sides that are expected to form during the two-week break.

He has had a shit run of it hasn't he?
Also that article reminds me why we weren't going to win the RWC.
Jacobson was initially selected to travel to Japan – despite having played less than a half of rugby for the All Blacks
That's a reflection of our loose forward depth going into the competition.

Season is looking like a write off. Only glimmer of hope is Cane possibly returning but I would rather he fully recovers than risk his health for a team that will struggle regardless.
I think there'd be some positives in the season regardless - the experience the young locks are getting, Boshier becoming a real contender, Tupaea playing beyond his years.
Of course the huge drop in form for ALB and Weber isn't great.

The Gallagher Chiefs will bid farewell to versatile forward Tyler Ardron and midfielder Tumua Manu as they head offshore to France. The twenty-nine-year-old Canadian forward has signed a two-year deal with French club Castres Olympique. Ardron has been a significant contributor to the Gallagher Chiefs squad since his debut in 2018. The versatile forward has been a consistent performer and an asset for the squad with his ability to play lock, flanker and number eight. Ardron will conclude his time with the Gallagher Chiefs on Tuesday 30 June. The powerful twenty-seven-year-old midfielder Manu will depart New Zealand at the completion of Super Rugby Aotearoa to join the French Top 14 club Section Paloise on a two-year contract.

Some good points in this article, but Bidwell can’t be serious by calling SR Aotearoa exhibition matches?
Yes, there are only 5 teams, but it’s more of a competition than we’ve seen in the last 10 or so years with the likes of the Revels, Force, Sunwolves just there making up the numbers.
