Love the way Dan phoned Razor before signing with the Blues. Old Skool.

Worth it for the reaction of Crusaders fans

You buy a Subaru Leone, and it serves you well for a decade and you put 190k on it, and then you sell it to the guy down the road when the CVs are going to break.
Even if you think hes a douche, you still get a little kick out of seeing it drive around.

Since we are collecting tens like the Crusaders used to, I wonder how long Richie has on his contract? Would be a good bench option if BB, Black, DC or Plummer got injured.

Ha! As we were talking about Dan Carter, when you said Ritchie, I thought you meant McCaw and had gone a bit loopy!

he's probably a better 10 than some of the dross the Blues have had over the past decade

What, no mention of world's second best player McClutchie?

You could get Jimmy Gopperth back. Or Stevie Brett. Ihaiah West perhaps? Or how about Benji?

NICK EVANS IGNORED YET AGAIN

Meanwhile in the 2004 Blues v Crusaders R2 replay on SS1, Ali Williams is expressing himself by wearing his 2002 Blues shorts.
This always annoyed me way more than it should.

@shark the cricket pitch in the middle of a rugby field...the memories!

that was one of the great disappointments for me. So talented, such a player and just didnt' fire a shot for us

TJ: "Doug Howlett, they're queueing up inside him!!!"
Ouch. I think one of them was Brad Mika too.
-
I can imagine more Blues youngsters having this reaction to seeing DC in their sheds. And it's awesome.

One of the worst NZ midfield backs I've seen. Awful defence, and could not take the ball to the line at all. Zero physicality and no speed. Baffling that he made the ABs.

Clearly you ignore my posts, I frequently point this out.

How could you forget the gold standard - Tasesa Lavea? He’s the guy who ended Carlos’ career in conjunction with Joe Schmidt. It’s the NZ version of curse of the bambino - curse of the Los.

And his propensity to put in stupid chip kicks and give away possession in good attacking positions used to shit me no end. McAlister used to get a lot of shit for this but Mauger was far worse in my view (especially since he was supposed to be a senior leader in the team)

Wow. Wow. Wow. Mauger was way better than you guys are making him out to be, and certainly the best 12 in NZ in the 2000s until Nonu settled into the position.

Mauger Vs McAlister. Mauger by a country. Obviously Ma'a Nonu at his best in a different solar system to both.

He was awesome in 2002 and 2003 and never reached that high standard again and then eventually got surpassed by Lucky.

I'd refute that McAlister ever surpassed him. At best there was a rotation.

I'm pretty sure that NZ won an ODI against SA the night before with Flem getting a rare ton on home soil? Underrated series.

He was out the door before walked in and who can blame him when Nucifora was too. Bad timing - he might have done better just a year earlier.

I dunno, came in, and got shunted to fullback after a couple of games. Such an exciting player, who just didn't deliver for us.
Like, there's a list of those boys to be fair. I'm nervous about gettin set up yet again for bitter disappointment

First time visitor and poster [to this thread] and it appears this Blues thread is on par with the US politics thread....

I'm just pleased that we seem to have a back office that realise the value of experience.
Even at 38 he won't embarrass himself, he's class.

He was fortunate to play for the Crusaders and only ever looked good when he had Tana outside him covering his glaring defensive deficiencies

Yeah from memory Nacewa went far better at 10 that season than Evans.

Of course you would.
Even allowing for rotation Lucky got the bulk of the big games in the 2007.
