CWC Game #7 Black Caps v Pakistan
-
The Black Caps juggernaut smashes into Pakistan tonight, and hopefully right the fuck through into a semi final berth. That would be bloody nice given we've got an in form Australia and a desperate England to finish the round robin.
It looks like they're backing Munro as their man at the top of the order. I think that's a mistake, but, it would be nice if he could get a score here to at least give him a bit of confidence. We really need Guppy to find some form as well, or we're too reliant on Kane and Rosco.
In the bowling Henry had one of those days against the WI, they seem to have his number at the moment. So the temptation will be to bring Southee in. They'll need to make a call and go with it at this stage as chopping and changing leading into the semi finals won't help either player.
In the fielding we've dropped 12(!) catches this tournament, somewhat disproving the statement that catches win matches. That will cost us big time if that trend continues, so I'd like to see a much sharper effort in the field tonight.

Southee back into the team please.

Hell, no. I'd take Sodhi over Henry over Southee ... and since 2 spinners is crazy based on weather to date, would keep Henry there.
Southee's a busted flush, and I think is just cannon fodder in ODI at the moment
-
@nzzp I'd like to see southee get a game to prove or disprove that. Really dubious on two spinners, but Henry gives us nothing in the last 15 overs, or 10 if you are feeling generous.
Does feel a bit late to try boult and Ferguson opening with southee at first change and bowling at the death. Tim probably needs the new ball advantage, but that's where his lack of wickets comes into the picture.

Either way Henry or Southee is a risk. I just think the former is less so.

We've won the toss and batted despite the overhead conditions. Ballsy, I was hoping we'd bowl and clean them up for not many.

@No-Quarter I reckon they are putting some pressure on some guys (snap @Donsteppa ) to make a contribution. Guppy will be gagging after showing some form before standing on his wickets, then getting a good nut last match.
Reckon 50+ is the minimum for Munro, but if he gets a swift 30 odd it feels like that's enough to keep him locked in. That bloody injury to Nichols couldn't have come at a worse time - it shafted any real opportunity for him to get a sniff.Had hoped we'd see Blundell as well. Was ok if we chose Southee but can handle Henry being retained.
Lets go lads! Time to clock up our first really big score of the WC!!
-
Dipak was so ahead of his time
-
Spin to open! That's a bold move Cotton
-
Munro will struggle to contain himself against a spinner opening.
-
Fuck you guptill you fuck!
With the village cricketer at the other end it's down to kane and Rossco again

That shot looks worse with every replay

Or shall we stop fucking about and have Kane open and bring in Blundell.
Munro, I'm looking at you mofo. BIG innings bro. BIG.
-
A peach to kane.
