In which case they shouldn’t be hookers?
But, also that’s coaching and practice. For example, it maybe that they throw perfectly at practice, but poor in game situations. That can fixed with some flexible coaching and training.
I’ve only played amateur shit, but here we used to make our hooker throw at the end of practice, after we were all fucking gassed, in contested line outs against our best jumpers, and only the forwards ran for every not straight.
They fucking hammered him for every not straight, and pretty soon he was never not down the middle unless it was a typhoon. He practiced like a _____fudger though. Like, being able to hit a specific point on a pole from 10 meters, 20 times in a row.
We had similar drills for our halfback - then the backs ran. I fucking hated that little c____ until he got accurate.
Edit: I forgot to add that our two hookers didn’t run, just the other forwards. Same for the halfbacks.

This was really satisfying win as a Canes fan. Bunch of rookies really stepped up and got the result. Really impressed with Peter Umaga-Jensen at centre, I would keep him there through the playoffs.
Really impressed at Fletcher Smiths cameo off the bench at Fullback.
And wow, the Canes had more wins than the Crusaders this year.

@Stargazer did you enjoy Jonah Lowe getting run down by Plummer? I thought he was meant to be Hawkes Bays finest?
-
@Canes4life Haha, you can't handle me pointing out a fact, so you decide to attack a Magpies player. Pathetic. But to answer your question, Lowe has been out of action for 4 months. It will take a little longer to get back to full speed. And Plummer isn't exactly slow either. He has shown that in other games as well.

Careful there C4L as Stargazer might start counting the number of times Alex Fidow fell to the ground during scrums in the time he was on the field.
-
@Stargazer It's because you harp on about Hawkes Bay players not being given a fair chance compared to Wellingtonians. Maybe they aren't good enough. If he is as good as you suggest, he wins that race to the line every day of the week.
-
@Canes4life How can anyone know whether players are or aren't good enough without giving them game time? All players in the squad need to get their opportunities. That has always been my point and it still stands.
-
@Higgins a 22 year old prop still learning his craft goes down a few times throughout the 50 mins he's on the field, whoop dee doo. He will only get better in that area. Did you catch the try he set up after running over Parsons, or the big tackles he was putting in on defence. Shit tone better than Toomaga Allen already and he's only just started.
-
@Canes4life He gets touted as the next big thing as a prop. I have yet to see it in his propping exhibitions displayed during his very limited Super Rugby experiences. Incidentally if his "goes down a few times" happens hard on defence it can have major consequences.
-
@Stargazer Fair enough, but they also need to take those chances and if Lowe wants to feature more often going forward he needs to finish those tries off, because guys like Goosen and Aso have been doing it for the past two seasons. Essentially if he wants to start he needs to be better than those blokes. Really liked the jibe of young Toala.
