Hurricanes v Blues

Different week same tune - poor halfback play is costing the Blues badly. Canes are a good side and were always going to have their own run after the initial onslaught by the Blues.
So many close losses to the Blues this season which speaks volumes about the lack of a winning culture and composure. There are positive signs in their attack and even their defensive systems, but it’s that top 2 inches.

@ACT-Crusader I would have Bryn Hall back any day.

Two past U20s hookers - neither of who can ducking throw. Who is training them? Or are they lazy? There are only really two options...
They might put a lot of work on it, but I'm wondering if it's a mechanics thing. It might be like how some guys can't shoot free throws in the NBA despite shooting 1000s of them in practice each month.

@ACT-Crusader did you see Williams got wrong footed on d for that try. Looked like he was protecting dodgy knee.
You know that SBW's a lock-in for the WC right?
I agree though, nice touches, but is the 2019 WC a WC too far for SBW -
Canes kicking game absolutely schooled Blues in the second half. Blues were stuck in their own half.
Tele'a made a decent fist of 13.
Good that no ABs got injured from either side.
When you re-sign Parsons for 2 years there's not much reason for optimism anytime soon.
The good news is it is the longest possible time until having to put up with the shit show that is the Blues again.

In which case they shouldn’t be hookers?
But, also that’s coaching and practice. For example, it maybe that they throw perfectly at practice, but poor in game situations. That can fixed with some flexible coaching and training.
I’ve only played amateur shit, but here we used to make our hooker throw at the end of practice, after we were all fucking gassed, in contested line outs against our best jumpers, and only the forwards ran for every not straight.
They fucking hammered him for every not straight, and pretty soon he was never not down the middle unless it was a typhoon. He practiced like a _____fudger though. Like, being able to hit a specific point on a pole from 10 meters, 20 times in a row.
We had similar drills for our halfback - then the backs ran. I fucking hated that little c____ until he got accurate.
Edit: I forgot to add that our two hookers didn’t run, just the other forwards. Same for the halfbacks.

This was really satisfying win as a Canes fan. Bunch of rookies really stepped up and got the result. Really impressed with Peter Umaga-Jensen at centre, I would keep him there through the playoffs.
Really impressed at Fletcher Smiths cameo off the bench at Fullback.
And wow, the Canes had more wins than the Crusaders this year.
