Looks like we will get a point out of this with the weather forecast for Nottingham to be Heavy Rain on Thursday.

Yep sounds like it. I’d take that given it is a game we would probably lose all things considered.

Yeah, I'm a bit torn. I was really looking forward to getting stuck into India, a win here would have really set us up for a semi final berth both on points and confidence moving forward, and we dealt to them in the warmup.

That said, it is freaking India. A draw is a pretty good result.

@No-Quarter it feels a wee bit dirty and I was (am) keen as to see how we go against them. But if we have one big effort in us versus India/England/Australia I'd prefer to keep our powder dry for the knockout stage. Only problem is nothing is farking dry in England at the moment!

for a wet country, we seem to spend an awful lot of time keeping our powder dry...

In hindsight, they might have looked at reserve days for the CWC. Though with the current forecast even they may not have helped much...

Is there 56 matches in the round robin? That would mean an extra 56 days of planning to accommodate and broadcast for the 'just in case' scenario. It would be a logistical nightmare and expensive too I imagine

Personally I think there should just be reserve days for finals

An alternative would be to have say 5 reserve days for the tournament and let any game use them. Broadcaster can plan for those specific days (for a tournament this dense there's sure to be at least a couple used) and the schedule isn't that much longer.

Also it’s England, not India or Australia. Travel is a piece of piss.

@Hooroo do we know if finals have reserve days. You'd presume so...

I find the NZ media funny talking up a game between the only two undefeated teams at the World Cup while failing to mention that all NZ have played are the gumboot teams to date and also that India absolutely handed NZ their arses this summer in our own conditions .

After our result against them in the warm up match I can see why we would be talked up even if India are the favourites.

I’d much rather play this game. Sure, one point is good and all, but history suggests this is the kind of game we can and often do win in world cups. Reminds me a lot of the set up vs eventual champs Australia in 1999. Would be a lot more pressure on India to win this game as a tournament favourite and a real bonus win for us.

What on earth has that got to do with how we might qualify for a semi final?
