This is a bit of a strange one.
Edward Osei-Nketia born in NZ but raised in Australia.
His father is Gus Nketia who was top NZ sprinter in 1990s.
Gus Nketia represented Ghana at 1990 commonwealth game in Auckland, but jumped ship (if memory serves, possible illegally) and stayed on after the games.Did Gus Nketia get signed by Canberra Raiders as a wildcat signing during the stupid Superleague sign athletes phase? or am I wrong?
Edward Osei-Nketia was just won the Australian Athletics Championships 100m in 10.22 seconds.
To put Osei-Nketia's times into perspective on an international scale, the winner of the 100m final at last year's IAAF World U20 Championships ran 10.18 seconds and the runner-up 10.22 seconds. So he is already right up there with the fastest teenagers in the world.
But has has just moved to Wellington on a scholarship to Scots College, and has an ambition to be an All Black.

they were talking about him on the radio on Monday.
General concensus seems if he wants to be a sprinter, he should represent Aus, if however he wants to play rugby, staying here is the obvious choice (he has AB asiprations)

@taniwharugby yeah that was what I'd heard also. As Oz has a relay team plus a deeper roster of individual runners.
Does kind of sound like rugby is more his thing, but if you are a legit chance to run sub-10 at such a young age, the attraction of sticking with sprinting must be pretty strong. Not to mention wanting to beat his old man's time!

Assuming he does get the nod and makes the ABs who is then relegated into second spot ? Rokokoko ? Howlett ? Vidiri ? Ioane ?
Fairly sure all of the above were a shade quicker than Jonah and Cully at their best.....

@MN5 didn't jonah hold the standing start 10m record? Dougie would prob beat out Rok, esp immediately after he moved from sprinting to rugby.

in the 70's Terry Morrison was the NZ 200 metre track champ. In Auckland Club rugby he would often score more tries for Ponsonby than other clubs would total
edit - Should have added for the (majority) who don't know - Morrison was a test (1973 debacle against England) AB

I remember Jeff Wilson said Vidiri blitzed everyone at sprint training, himself, CUlly and Jonah included.
If he had been eligible in 96-97 he could have been as big a star as any of them.

@MN5 I think that record was set when jonah was at the blues, not sure about overlap with joeili or rupeni tho

I dunno if Rupeni had as much top end speed, he did get run down by a lock years ago which shocked everyone but obviously the power, step and swerve were amongst the best we've ever seen.

Reading these quotes you think he had a suspicion:

The 29-year-old Kenyan, a triple world champion, has reportedly claimed his sample may have been tampered with, but anti-doping bosses said the case was "convincingly made out".
The Athletics Integrity Unit decreed his results and winnings between November 2017 and February 2018 should be scrapped. He was initially suspended last year.
The AIU said the Kenyan presented an "a la carte menu of reasons why the charges should be dismissed".
Kiprop has said: "I have been left to fight this on my own. I have had no support even from my fellow athletes, some who have questioned my integrity in public."
A massive 138 Kenyan athletes have tested positive in anti-doping campaigns since 2004.
Kenya has been on the list of countries under IAAF surveillance since 2016.

When he was fit he was as fast as anybody. That was a small window though
