Napier Technical 28 (M Lealaiasalanoa, T Boswell-Wakefield, J Faia tries; M Watson 2 cons, 2 pens; L Shaw pen),
MAC 28 (P Latu, F Asolua, R Paewai, P Siofolau tries; V Kereti 4 cons ).
HT: MAC 21-14.As much as I am sucking on a bitter lemon I am really pleased that MAC have managed to put the sudden loss of their players behind them and almost pulling of a victory against their former players. Without having my fingers on the pulse were the players that transferred to my guys starters at MAC and if they were that speaks volumes for the courage and fortitude shown by MAC. Were the Texans brave enough to start the players concerned? Could have been some solid "tackles" bering made if they did!!!!!

Snippets from the HBT's club rugby write-up:
Blindside flanker Eru Wano, a newcomer in the Magpies wider training group, produced a player-of-the-match display for Taradale.
Halfback Humphrey Sheild again impressed with his distribution for the visitors who also retained the Cooper-O'Dwyer Cup.
Maybe they should have tried him for the NZU20s. He was the 2nd halfback for NZ Schools (with Taufa Funaki) in 2017.
Especially quoted for @Higgins
Altherm Window Systems Napier Technical first five-eighth Marty Watson took a pounding in this Flaxmere Park draw but he expected it. Like halfback Simon Quickfall, Watson, played three games for MAC before transferring to the Texans to enhance his chances of Magpies selection in the future. "I took a bit of stick out there and I'm battered and bruised," former North Harbour Development team rep Watson said while icing his ribs.
For @Canes4life, Farrell is playing and no longer injured:
Prop Tim Farrell was powerful on the carry and busy on defence.
Does Marshall know himself where he wants to be and play? He's seems to be moving to the Poo and back, every year.
Former Magpies and Manawatu Turbos utility back Lewis Marshall was full of endeavour in the second five-eighth role for MAC.
@Higgins, another player who's transferred from MAC:
Former North Harbour and New Zealand Development Sevens player Pentana Smith celebrated his first outing for Auto Super Shoppe Hastings Rugby and Sports with 13 points in this Elwood Park victory. One of 13 Hastings Boys' High School products in the hosts starting XV, Smith, who transferred from MAC earlier in the week, scored a try and kicked four conversions during stints in both the centre and fullback positions. Second five-eighth Antonio Mikaele was classy in the Hastings backline and openside flanker Jardine Chung Ching and loosehead prop Josiah Tavita Metcalfe were the pick of the Hastings forwards.
Second five-eighth Tyrone Dodd-Edwards has his best outing of the season in the Pirate backline.
Promising looshead prop Lee Moleili, who scored two tries, and No 8 Hannon Brighouse led the host pack by example and substitute centre Saia Paese again proved why he has been included in the Magpies wider training group.

@Stargazer Anyone know anything about Eru Smith-Wano? A google search suggests he's from BoP and played over in Perth and is Maori/Cook Islander. However, "Eru Smith" is a well known generational HB name so his family may be from the Bay.

HT: MAC 21-14.Now I have had a closer llok at the above , is the P Latu who scored a try for MAC the P Latu that rejoined Tech from up Hamiltopn way a couple of weeks back? If so then the three players my guys acquired my well be a "transfer fee" for Penikolo Latu moving in the other direction if it is the same player.

I see Geoff Cridge playing club rugby for HSOB in Chch this weekend. Interesting
And again this weekend
-
Is he not signed with the Magpies this year?
TBH, he may as well try make the Canterbury squad to further his career because he isn't going to progress under John "We need a big 7ft Saffa lock but I'll play a midget from Wellington over anyone taller then 6ft 4" Plumtree.

@Stargazer Bloody typical, we front for his wage bill for years for an almost nil return and when he finally might not be a season ticket holder in the casualty ward of the local hospital he departs. That might not be his first choice of course as maybe he might not have been offered another HBRFU contract as their patience might finally have run out.

I wish all Premiers squad lists were published by the HBRU (like Waikato does, for example), or by the teams themselves. Only a few do ... like
It's weird that there are easy things that the HBRU can do like this bit they just don't seem that interested.
-
@Nepia They don't seem that interested in social media at all. They only use FB and one third of their posts are about their sponsors. Apparently, rugby fans aren't important and they don't understand that good communication with rugby fans creates interest in playing and watching rugby (so can increase playing numbers and bums on seats during M10 Cup).

I guess as they're doing relatively well financially (when compared to other rugby entities) they don't have the ability to look wider when it comes to marketing and promotion.

The Pirates Club seem to acknowledge their sponsors nicely in their team naming sheet although I am somewhat distressed to see the Meeanee Hotel (actually pretty much during my entire life it has been called the Plumpton Park Hotel) as one of their backers.
-
@Stargazer also Fletcher Smith playing in same team.

Also back to Chch? Should we read anything into this? He's a Nelsonian, who first went to Nelson College, then Christchurch Boys HS.
