NRL 2019

@Nepia that should have been a run away to rts in the first half and that last eels try shouldn't have happened. That wasn't a strip by Chanel. Was only one in the tackle. I've never really harped on the refs hating the warriors but feel like it's every game now.
-
Sheesh itās intersting seeing the Warriors getting stitched by the officials live at the ground. By interesting I mean a whole bunch of words I canāt say under the new google rules.
-
Us one on one...refs strip penalty.
Eels. Three on one. No strip play on eels ball.
No penalty since the tenth minute for us.
-
How can the refs call forward pass from where they were
-
There's absolutely no denying that warriors are very capable of being architects of their own demise.
But that was a " why do we bother" referring display, including a matchwinning try that had to be looked at upstairs, but wasn't -
They lost but a lot to like about this version of the Warriors.
-
Games off the top of my head there's been horrible calls or multiple include vs south's early in the season. Broncos second game with shot clock disappearing. Titans game knight's game and this one.
Agree I'm used to us being shit and stealing a loss but kills me when they actually put out a decent effort and get rimmed.
-
Just watched their 1st try of the second half. We knocked it back but it hit their players hand on the way through. That was after the non strip.
How is that different from them knocking the ball on into Adam Blair when Roger had the ball running to the try line to be called back.
No consistency in the big moments.
-
This is getting to the point where it should actually be an embarrassment to the NRL that the officiating is so poor.
-
@kev I only looked in from the 'non' strip to that try reminded me why I gave up on league, so I stopped watching.
-
@taniwharugby watching the Warriors is like watching Northland. But both teams are getting better. š
League has to work on their refs or rules because so many big moments are now just incorrect. Embarrassing.
-
@kev I can only handle so much torture, had to choose, NOrthland or Warriors...I stand by my choice

I apologise for the swearing. Given the ferns new guidelines etc. mods please feel free to censor......
The Warriors are, after 25 years, a novelty to the Australian rugby league public. We are still an expansion team earning our right to be here. It doesnāt matter that the warriors probably have the largest fan base in the competition. That we are in the top selling jerseys year in year out. We are just a team of islanders, Maori and Aussie cast offs. Tonight Braith Anasta referred to RTS as his dark horse to win the Daly M. Heās the fucken incumbent! How can he be a fucken dark horse!
But what NZers donāt realise, who donāt live here and know how the warriors are perceived on the ground here in Bogantasia, is that no one wants to know why we get so many bad calls against us. No one cares about [Toovey voice] an inquiry. Itās just how shit is. We are an unwanted club. The commentators struggle to veil their dislike of the warriors. Saying something encouraging or complementary usually comes across as a knee jerk or shock comment. Like āfuck me dazed they actually completed a setā.
This is never going to change....Unless...We win the fucken thing, the whole thing. We can dominate a game and the post match is always going to one of amazement. When we string a few performances together thereās always an expectation that we will fall over eventually. The problem is that we do just that, we meet their expectation. We need to exceed their expectation. We need to win the Comp. Itās the only way the respect will ever come. The only way the refs will give us the rub is if we are seen as a team to respect by the Australian public. The only way that happens is if we become a must watch team. The only real way that happens is if we are the best team going.
Itās fucked and clearly not fair. But this is Australia and we are just a bunch of riffraff in their eyes.
-
There was a full on Parra fan next to us who, one of those shouty fans everyone knows from live games ... but, when he saw the replay of the three on one strip even he thought we were got robbed.
League is retarded. One Warriors live match and they make me want to give up watching the sport altogether because no matter how tutae the Warriors are the inept and incompetent officials and fishheads are worse. Actually that's probably too harsh - the same.
What was weird though was all the Islanders who were supporting Parra.

I concur.

on TAB FB page:
After the Warriors were robbed by the refs, we've refunded all head to head bets on them to the tune of $44,000!
-
That is very savvy marketing. Loving the dress as a ref call too!
-
This should make an appearance on the big screen at Mt Smart next week:
-
@Sneakdefreak "back, ahh...in the first half" polynesian gold š
-
There we go. Aussie calls it a ābizarreā response. Tongue in cheek yeah bizarre no. But because itās NZ and we should never complain as weāre just lucky to be here itās some left field stupidity.
-
@raznomore I like Stephen Kearneyās comment that if they canāt ref the strip properly they should change the rules back. 2 incorrect calls in 2nd half.
However no one is talking about these two incidents:
- Paraās first try after half time. Our guy knocks it back in tackle but hits hand of Para player on way through. Ruled play on.
- Para player loses ball into Blair in tackle. Roger running for try but pulled back. Ruled a double knock on.
They both canāt be correct. You have to be consistent.
The last one with Rogers pass I can almost understand. Close.
But the ones above had already made the difference.
-
@MajorRage said in NRL 2019:
Boom.
have they been punished by being given the Warriors game next weekend?
-
The Eels won't care, and the Warriors don't get the 2 pts.
Those refs should be dropped for the rest of the season.
-
@Bovidae The warriors should sue the league for lost income and damage to the club and their brand from failing to make the 8. If correct calls had been made we would have about 5 or 6 extra points. I've asked Izzy Foolau and he reckons $10M AUD ought to do it
-
Good to see in the post match review they got the 3 incorrect calls and mentioned the pass which could have been incorrect. Interesting the bunker which missed the knock on that resulted in the try after the incorrect strip call ( the double up ) get off when they have the time to get it correct.
See Luke gets more time than Origin hero. This bias at review time is even more concerning than above.
We are still just a NZ team in an Aussie competition.

And after all the mistreatment it is still worth it to be inside the tent than on the outside looking in

Aren't there any Islanders living in Western Sydney?
-
Luke gets 3 weeks. Anyone of you guys available to play hooker this weekend?
The NRL are fucked. Jake Turbo, Nick Cotric, and Issac Luke all perform tackles which look pretty much the same. Guess which guy didn't get 3 weeks? In fact, which one is available to play this weekend? Hint: He's the guy who plays Origin.

Lots - but Iām used to Islanders cheering for the Warriors.
@mariner4life Same old same old with league, by league I mean NRL.

There are almost as many islanders playing in the NRL teams as in the Warriors these days. I watched the keeping the faith doco, and one of the things which is noticeable is how white most of the opposition NRL teams were back in the day

Eels have a massive Tongan following. 2nd and even 3rd generation Aussie born Tongans out in the west
-
Didn't the Bulldogs used to have a big Islander following?
-
If you go to a storm game ,
Looks like half the crowd is south Auckland and probably is, the kiwi population of melb is a big part of their supporter base
-
The Raiders go up the guts Iike a hot knife through butter, and then the initial reaction from RTS leaves him with too much to do... Canberra up 6 - 0 early and looking dangerous.
-
Warriors sleep walking through the game. Getting pumped
-
Even as a Raiders fan from way back this is embarrassing to watch.
