@KiwiPie C'mon you know better than that. Rice and Hadlee were crucial to Notts success in the 80's but any side with Tim Robinson, Broad, Randell, Bruce French could bat a bit. Pace wise the two all rounders were supported by Cooper Andy pick and saxelby. Spin was Eddie Hemmings. You had other decent county batsmen like Newell and Johnson as well
1981 season:
Rice (top scorer) 1462 runs at 56.23
Hadlee 734 runs at 32.39Hadlee 105 wickets at 14.89
Rice 65 wickets at 19.20Hemmings took 84 wickets and Randall made over 1000 runs but my point still stands - unusual for 2 players to dominate so much with bat and ball.
Hadlee rated Rice extremely highly and there is absolutely no doubt he would have been up there with the other great All rounders of the 80s if he’d played test cricket. Best batsman of the lot and a terrific bowler too. Great average but not a huge amount of wickets strangely
As I think I mentioned elsewhere when you throw in other names there hasn’t been a country that’s produced as many champions all rounders as SA.

This was great as well. That slower ball to Healy.
80's and early 90's ODI's were the best especially those Benson and Hedges World Series in Oz.
10 games each plus a best of 3 final series.
The jersey designs were iconic too looking back -
Biggest local cricketing news of the week. @MN5's favourite cricketer visits @mariner4life's old club at Fergusson Park.

ah Fergie Park
Before or after the Fergie Doctor comes through?
That genuinely put a smile on my face, thanks for that

Yeah team mankad 100%. If the non striker is marginal then I think warn first but if they're really taking the piss then don't even warn them.
I don't think either player is cheating though - the non striker is taking a risk trying to get an advantage. Very similar to a stumping really.

Why the warning in the first place ?
It’s not like a bowler cleans someone up and they get a warning. If you’re out you’re out.

Totally, not cheating, just part of the game. Like trying to steal a base in baseball. Should be zero outrage either way

It baffles me that it makes headlines. Stay in the crease til the last moment and you won’t get out. If it’s not the ‘spirit of the game’ then bowlers may as well not try to get guys bowled, stumped, caught or LBW either..

and we think our selectors are cautious and backward thinking
Word is Sam Konstas is not getting a run in SL. They are dropping him, pushing Head to open, and bringing a 29 year old keeper in to bat in the middle order.
Now, it's not like Konstas looks to the manner born, he had that one innings where he got in to Bumrah and everyone lost their shit, but other than that there wasn't a lot of return.
but
that's two young openers they have rissoled in a couple of months, in an ageing team desperate for some new blood. They are short runs at the top of the order because old man Khawaja can't buy one at the moment. No way Inglis is a long term option, and moving Head is risking their current best batsman. Doesn't seem the smart play to me
