Neil Wagner (we still luvz Wags) has a memoir iout.

He promoted it in a 30 minute, pretty frank, interview on Radio NZ last Saturday

    Well worth a listen

    Nov 8, 2024

    Neil Wagner - All Out

    Neil Wagner - All Out

Neil Wagner is one of our top bowlers to play test cricket for New Zealand. He opens up to Susie about his triumphs on the field, and personal challenges off it.

I read some exerts in the newspaper. I never realised that his introduction to the NZ squad was so challenging. His BC career could have been over before it even began.

@Bovidae Yeah I had to go back to Cricinfo to look at his first few tests as my memory is of pretty much consistent success from Day 1.

He really suffered from doubts and depression which also surprised me given how he comes across on the field. The links to Suicide Prevention are on the link for a reason

Respect for the guy only grows

@dogmeat His treatment and marginalisation from the players at the start was appalling. Not a good look from some NZ cricket greats.

Funny old game T20. Yesterday Australia defend 140odd reasonably comfortably. This morning the West Indies chase down 219 equally comfortably.

This is an absolutely outstanding unwanted record. Even more so when you consider the opener held the innings together with an innings of four.

Isaac Denladi will be devestated his 3/2 was upstaged by Prosper Useni getting 3/0.

Curtly was the man, him and Courtenay Walsh ( I’d argue the most underrated pace bowler ever ? ) were a terrific combination.

Also lots of memories of the two Ws destroying us on numerous occasions.

Dale Steyn was the last of the psycho pace bowlers I can recall.

The ones playing nowadays are so nice in comparison.

Dean Jones ( RIP ) was quite the raconteur. Very funny guy.

Dialed-in Mitch Johnson too. That Ashes where he set about retiring Englishmen will live long in people's memory. Evil.

Outside of Hadlee, Wasim Akram was my favourite bowler (being a left-armer myself) but Ambrose was close behind.

Dunno if this has been posted.

Video of all of Hadlee's wickets is just poetry.

Have to say though the Aussie batters did their best to help him in his 9fer.

And that slow ball down leg wasn't "a fluke" Chappelli.

Glen Maxwell single handedly giving his team something to bowl at
In an 81 run partnership the guy at the other end is 0 off 3 balls

    @mariner4life On a similar note:

Amelia and Jess Kerr score 97 runs between them - the rest of the team make 4 runs off the bat.

The Kerr sisters at the moment are like Hadlee and Rice for Nottinghamshire in the 1980s - have to score all the runs and take all the wickets

The Blaze have had Sophie Devine and Aus great Elyse Perry in the side recently and yet the Kerr sisters have carried the team on their shoulders.
