@Catogrande when Pant went out, I knew India would’ve been well short with how England were batting.
The openers then the middle order just getting it done and at a rate of knots. Will be interesting to see what they do away from home.

Mate, I’m just enjoying the here and now. Overseas can bugger off and wait its turn.

@No-Quarter Baz and Stokes masterminding the turnaround in English cricket.
Cam Norrie storming into the Wimbledon semi-finals.
Must be free beer for all NZers in England this week!!!

…..and isn’t it remarkable.
Bairstowe has turned a bigger corner than any other player I can remember. How good is he playing ?

Three years without a test hundred (and only a small handful of small 50s in that period) - and now he has six this year.
True he has had some lean times but that doesn’t quite tell the whole story. Bairstow has been in and out of the side for the last few years. Up and down the order, sometimes keeping but often not.
Not all down to the new set up either, although his form this summer certainly supports the new paradigm. Under the previous coaching set up he was still second highest run scorer in both Aus and WIs with averages in both series of around 48. Second highest England run scorer in Aus despite playing only 2 tests.

Apparently we're playing Sri Lanka again.
Labuschagne and Smith with tons. Australia 295 runs with 5 down approaching stumps on Day 1. Fairly successful outing so far.
Smith nudges past Mark Waugh on the list of top Australian run scorers and averages about 18 more than one of my personal favourite players.
Pretty damn freaky. What a career he’s had.

Remarkable for a middle order leggie to achieve what he has

Indeed. Say what you want about the cheating, he didn’t cheat his way to over 8000 runs at 60. You can’t deny Root is the best batsman in the world at the moment but Smiths overall record is otherworldly. Just extraordinary stuff.
In the meantime Virat Kohlis form has fallen off a cliff which is winding up the fuck you bloody brigade something beautiful.

This really has it all. The attempted dirty slog over cow corner, the keeper losing his glove trying to run him out, the mix up between the batsmen when there was never in a million years an opportunity for a single, the bowler making an even bigger hash of things throwing the ball at the stumps instead of just dislodging the bails, and then to finish it off the non-striker giving the thumbs up to his partner. Superb cricket all round.
-
@No-Quarter also love the batter down the strikers end turning looking dejected thinking his partner is gone for all money. Only to turnaround and see the runout never happened. Gold.

How the turn tables, eh.
Sri Lanka a lead of 67 with 4 wickets in hand at the end of day 3. It's going to be damn hard for Australia from here - I don't think teams from outside the subcontinent handle conceding first innings leads.
Also, check out Lyon - 56 overs! He'll be wrecked ... and the first innings still isn't done.
-
Chandimal goes 6 6 to get to 200 with a no 11 at the other end. SL 554/9, lead by 190 and still batting. It's ridiculous - Australia bowled them out twice in 80 overs, and are now 180 overs in.
Lyon's rested, only 6 overs today. Swepson bowling plenty now. Carn Sri Lanka

Tests in Sri Lanka sure are high scoring affairs.
Makes Muralis 800 wickets even more impressive to be fair.

Murali bowled the msot balls in test cricket history. He worked for his wickets for sure. Dead set legend.

Oh for sure. Throwing or not his record is just fucken ridiculous. THIRTY more Michelles than Warnie……
Here’s another stat. Very good bowlers like Bob Willis, Joel Garner, Jason Gillespie, Brett Lee, Morne Morkel and Neil Wagner ( I love Wags ) never got ten wickets in a match….Murali did it TWENTY TWO times !!!!
Bloody hell, mind boggling stuff.
He’s clearly as much Sri Lanka’s greatest cricketer as Paddles is ours ( well, Sangakkara was incredible too )
