@mariner4life for the top guys he's a known quantity. They know he has the ability to be there at the end so as far worthwhile fights are concerned he won't be seen as a 'safe' option. He's not a journeyman fighter just yet and will still be considered too dangerous to chuck in with someone for a tune-up.

If chisora wins his upcoming fight , he should be fighting him next in England ( straight out of eddies mouth )

That’s a good fight for joe right now imo

@raznomore If he had knocked him out in 1 people would have criticised him for a poor choice of opponent and who in the US was in a rush to see Parker fight anyway? Fury v Wilder didn't sell out the Staples Centre and AJ v Ruiz was far from a sell out at MSG as no-one really cares about HW boxing in the US at all. Andrade v Sulecki was the main event anyway, not Parker v Leapai.

Andy Ruiz struggled against Kevin Johnson 2 fights ago and now look at him. Parker got a good 10 rounds without any major problems which will do him good going forward.

Parker is neither American(Wilder) or Mexican(Ruiz). He is not really a known boxer in the US and the point of this fight was to get buzz going. He didn't achieve that in this fight. No one, except you and me, is talking about this fight a day later.

Your examples for non-sell-outs mean nothing mate. People wanted AJ vs Wilder in both fights so I'm not surprised they didn't sell out. Fury vs Wilder was a fight the US public had to settle for and the AJ vs Ruiz fight was AJ's first in the US, not to mention neither fighter is American* AND everyone thought Ruiz was going to be a speed bump.

    *Ruiz identifies as Mexican

This part here I'm not sure about either. I'm not in a bad mood and decided to pick on you today or anything I just don't agree. Joe needs to be forced to fight. That was a sparring match where your trainer paid your sparring partner before the session and said: "go easy and there's another hundy in it for you". You can not grow from a fight like this.

@kiwiinmelb Yep. Anything is England is better for Joe IMO. He has a rep there and put on a good show against Whyte in the closing rounds. He's more likely to get people who care about the fight.

Chisora is on the way out but going out swinging so this could be the type of war Parker needs to get some of the right people looking at him.

@raznomore Hey man no animosity at all towards you at all, rational discussion is good but yeah, I disagree about Parker needing a KO in this fight to boost his profile. His next fight is bound to be a tougher test anyway and this was his first fight of the year. Good to shake off some rustiness and get some decent rounds in imo.

He's hoping to have 2 more fights this year. He was meant to fight Molina before he pulled out so who knows, maybe it'll be him before fighting Chisora/Szpilka at the end of the year. It wouldn't suprise me if Szpilka beats Chisora however (hope he does I can't stand Chisora). Chisora doesn't like facing movers and Szpilka's movement is some of the best in the HW division. Szpilka's chin however is made of glass so it does make this fight interesting.

Manny doing it for all us old guys. There was no split decision. That was a clear cut victory. Didn't see any of the undercard.

Dillian Whyte saw off a Takim-esque in Oscar Rivas. Rivas floored Whyte in the 9th but was outpointed easily. Just too one dimensional.

Derek Chisora had a highlight reel KO and will now probably be Joseph Parkers next opponent.

Be interesting to see what manny does now , I think they took that fight because Thurman looked so crap in his comeback fight after his 2 year lay off .

Not so sure his team will want Spence or Crawford, no one wants to see his career end sadly, but now he holds a title, and there are calls everywhere to unify that division, that may be unavoidable.

@raznomore The undercard was nothing special. Ugas v Figueroa was a horrible mismatch, Lipinets fought a late replacement as John Molina pulled out and Luis Nery eventually put away Payano with a brutal bodyshot as he was beginning to streak ahead on points.

I had the fight 115-112 to Pacquiao. Thurman was on his way to winning round 1 until Pacquiao got the KD and it took a long time for Thurman to fully recover from where he ended up giving away the first 5 rounds as a result. I feel that the KD alone won Pacquiao the fight, along with the bodyshot in round 10 where Thurman was again winning the round until then.

I would say that he'll fight the winner of Spence v Porter next. Crawford needs to somehow leave Bob Arum and Top Rank and get himself to Al Haymon and PBC if he wants to fight the best welterweights. He's wasting his career with Bob Arum as he and Al Haymon don't do business.

@African-Monkey I’m tipping Spence to unify the division, and hopefully we get to see Spence v Crawford

@kiwiinmelb I'd love for that to happen too as it's the big fight in the division but as usual, the promoters will stop it from happening which happens a lot in boxing. The only way it'll happen is if Crawford leaves Bob Arum and signs with Al Haymon. I feel that after Spence beats Porter (which he should), then we'll get Spence v Pacquiao next year and whatever the result, I think Spence goes to 154 as he's struggling to make weight at 147 and is massive for the weight anyway.

Great effort from Yarde against all odds to the point where he almost had Kovalev out of there in round 8. Kovalev also did well to find a second wind and take Yarde out in the end in a fight where he was winning on his jab for most of it.

Interesting, joe and Higgins had some negative things to say a few weeks back hinting they were being stitched up by Hearn .

You do wonder if they have pulled the pin.

Barry had been vocal about wanting a tough referee who would not let the fight get out of control. They weren't happy with the ref in the Whyte fight. Maybe there is more to the story.

Surely at this stage in Parker's career he should be prepared to fight Chisora in Chisora's garden with Chisora's mother reffing?
