@African-Monkey the thing with fury , there is clearly a big difference in quality of performance in his best and worst efforts when looking at his career, those close to him say he performs best when he is super motivated, so hopefully we get the best Tyson . I suspect the delays work to his advantage, knowing his next opponent is a southpaw for such a long time , it’s given a long time to get that right, sparring nobody else except lefties .
Usyk on the other hand is super consistent , you know what you are going to get , I get why people are making him favourite, but Tyson for me is the wildcard , and I’m not closing the door and what surprises he might bring .
The opetaia Briedis fight should be a beauty and will probably outdo the main event for action. -
@kiwiinmelb Yup all fair points too. Not fussed either way as to who wins, as long as the right man wins.
The first Briedis v Opetaia fight was a beaut. Opetaia got up, but his jaw was in pieces afterwards. Will be interesting to see if Briedis has anything left as he's been very inactive since.
Sanchez v Kabayel is also another to look out for. The winner will go a long way to a title shot. I think Sanchez wins on points as he's so tight defensively and hard to break down, like a heavyweight version of Dmitry Bivol, but I've written Kabayel off in the past, and the way he chopped Makhmudov down to the body was impressive.

@Bovidae Yup, 4th round stoppage win. Unsure about how far he'll go, the Cruiserweight division is very weak, so he'll go close to titles because of it. He's very sus defensively and doesn't fight to his strengths. He could have been in more trouble if his opponent had a bit more pop.
Currently, he looks like he's still stuck with some of his amateur boxing habits.

Had it 116-111 Usyk but the right decision in the end. I get a lot wrong, but got this right!
WAR USYK!!!
-
I thought it was a correct decision, in the midway stages somewhere I had fury slightly in front but it was close .
And then usyk took 4 or 5 in a row , Tyson also lucky to survive a potential stoppage .
I suspected we were looking at a draw though when the first two cards were read out .
He is an all time great Usyk, when you take in his amateur record , his dominance of the cruiserweight division, and now this .

And some pretty classless comments from Fury at the end too.
Not the first Brit to embarrass himself after losing to Usyk.

What did he say ? I had to bugger off straight after the fight so missed it.
It looked to me like lots of mutual respect right at the end

Said he thought he won

And how he thought Usyk only got the decision as sympathy for what's happening in the Ukraine which wasn't really needed. At the same time, they didn't need to shove a microphone in his face either.
Will the rematch happen in October?
-
Fair to say it lived up to the hype. Fury lucky they didn’t stop it in the 9th as he was completely out on his feet…..then again to come back and compete and get as close as he did proves how unbelievably tough he is.
Usyk literally looked like a little kid in there at times next to Fury but fuck me, he’s no joke. Amazing performance. First undisputed champ since 1999.
Bring on the rematch !!!!
