Scuse my ignorance but how does point scoring work in boxing?
You'll note I have not previously contributed to this thread (I think ... ).
It's remarkably simple. You win a round you get 10 points and the other boxer gets nine. If you knock someone down you get ten and they get eight. Drawn rounds are 10 a piece.
Cool. Thanks much.
The next level is: how do you win a round?
Clean punches, defence, dominating the ring, etc.

This is where the subjective element causes debate.
It can be down to personal preference of a style by a judge. You can be a technically perfect boxer that throws 4 clean pinpoint punches in a round and dance and dodge your opponent yet get beaten on the scorecard because a judge likes the way the other guy is trying to take the fight to you and is throwing lots and chasing you around.
You have to take the judges out of the competition, especially when it isn't your camp that is paying for the hookers waiting for them at their hotel rooms. -
Rumours Parker will fight chisora on April 20th in the uk ,
Hearn is trying to put a big card together with 3 heavyweight fights on the bill,
White vs povetkin the main event , Lucas Browne fighting a Brit fighter the other one .
If true , shapes as a must win for joe to prevent further sliding

Wilder v Breazeale
Not the fight we wanted to see, but fair play can't fault the finish
-
That right hand is lethal , and he throws it from so far back ,
He is a weird one wilder ,so unorthodox, but has the rare ability to be behind on the scorecards , but back himself to put you to sleep when the opportunity arises , and he does it within the blink of an eye with a single shot

it puts Tyson Fury in perspective. Massively tough to get up from those kind of shots.

And fury went so long without being hit , not convinced any other heavyweight can manage that ,
With Joshua , who has his own power it might be a matter of , knock him out before he gets me , wilder does leave the door right open when he lunges forward

that fight completely changed my views on Fury, great effort and so much heart which prior to that I doubted.

Well , who saw that coming ?

Very happy I woke up and decided to purchase the fight, what a great watch
Joshua just quit at the end, took an easy knee, spat out his mouth guard and walked away.

Yeah I’ve got nothing against Joshua , he’s a nice fella and a good boxer , but he isn’t the undefeatable superman his fans think he is .
I hang out in a few boxing forums , and am sick of being abused by them by saying he won’t go undefeated.
Have to be honest , I thought it would be fury or wilder , not andy Ruiz .though
-
Wow indeed.
I presume there is a usual rematch clause to be activated, otherwise the title shots closed to boxers because Joshua had already beaten them, like Parker, become open again?
Edit: Unsurprisingly, there is a rematch clause ...

The heavyweight division is alive and well ,
Just got to hope we get the match ups we want ,
Parker signed with DAZN as well , which should get him some good fights,
Being tipped to fight chisora or usyk , not sure I like the match up with usyk but should be interesting

And big boned boys around the world rub their stomachs and rejoice.
Ruiz went from 'kid' (holding AJ's belts at the weigh in) to 'KING'
Fantastic. Thoroughly deserved.
AJ mentally shattered and will do well to come back from this.

@MiketheSnow
AJ made the big, big mistake of surrounding himself with sycophants and believing his own hype. He cut out the honest, plain-speaking people who knew him of old and remembered him a kid from Watford with big dreams. Always goes horribly wrong for fighters when they reach that stage. Hubris and nemesis: the oldest story of them all.I hope for his sake, he has put some money away as I am not sure he is coming back.
