@KiwiMurph As a contender, yes.
Joyce is unbelievable. Has a granite chin, doesn't stop throwing or marching forward, and his stamina gets better as the fight goes on. He's George Foreman reincarnated.
Yeah I’ve heard him described like that too. Whether he is of that elite class is another thing though….

@African-Monkey said in Boxing Thread:
@MN5 No, he hit Joyce with some huge bombs, but Joyce's chin is something else.
If I were the rest of the HW division, I'd stay well clear of Joyce
Yeah some fighters are blessed with chins of iron.
Would be interesting if he could handle shots from Wilder like that.
-

@MN5 Would love to see the matchup too.
Absolutely. While Wilder has relatively questionable boxing skills as such his power and toughness is beyond doubt.

I watched it ,
He fought with courage , but at the end of the day , joyce was too big and too relentless with his workrate ,
Joseph looked liked he needed to take breaks to recover, which has always been a bit of a weakness , but Joyce didnt allow that , just kept walking forward with those heavy hands , in the end he was super fatigued when that big left him him on the side of the head , first round he probably gets up from that ,
Will he retire ? that is up to him , by all reports unlike Tua , he is set up well financially ,
he will go on if he enjoys the lifestyle and wants more money I would say

Great to hear.
The amount of fighters who aren’t is really sad and no matter how good a guy was at his best there are so many cases of has beens getting in the ring too many times.

Fury exposed wilders frailties,
Wilder likes to go forward stalking his opponents but at the same time maintaining the outside type distance
I think Joyce constantly going forward , just like fury did in fight 2 would make wilder very uncomfortable.
But wilder does have that shot that finishes everything.
But I’d have Joyce to beat wilder and Joshua .

@kiwiinmelb Sadly he's now at Chisora/Takam level where he'll just be used as a gatekeeper for the next generation of HWs coming through.
He and his promoter Ben Shalom should push hard for the Whyte rematch if he continues fighting. They're both in no man's land so they may as well fight again.

Some good insight from Shane Fury ( Tysons brother ) on parker v Joyce and Tyson v Joshua
Sounds like he was right.

Sounds like he wants to fight on ,
Some guys just genuinely enjoy the fight game and what comes with it win lose or draw ,
As Sam solliman told me a few years back , some people think we only fight on for the money , but the bright lights , the adrenaline rush , the challenges can be addictive and your life can feel very empty without it .
-
@kiwiinmelb Yup guys like Chisora, Kevin Johnson, Danny Williams etc. just enjoy fighting and don't know when to call it a day. Bernard Hopkins is also another example of this.

……and let’s be quite honest. That is probably Parkers level. No disgrace in that though !
-
If this fight doesn't get made - and it certainly looks that way - then it appears it's all on Fury.
If that's the case, very disappointing and a move which could hurt his legacy.
-
@MN5 Yeah, he's had a decent career and has done well with some decent win along the way. The Takam and Ruiz fights virtually showed us the level he was at, and there's no shame in that.
@MiketheSnow the fight was never happening let's be honest here. Hearn doesn't want it as he wants AJ to go on some world tour and beat up a bunch of journeymen to get his confidence up, and Fury is supposedly fighting Manuel Charr, so is trying to use the old trick of trying to make big fights happen when they were never realistic.
The fight was never gonna happen so soon after AJ lost to Usyk.
-
Apparently Manuel charr put it on his social media a week or so ago that he is fighting Fury on December the third ,
Someone forgot to tell him to wait for the fury aj circus to wind down before announcing it

Fury has been playing games for some time now , the whole retirement thing was never real ,
I actually think he believes the more you deceive and delay things you build up anticipation for when it finally happens from a money perspective, and the event becomes bigger , but it may have the opposite effect , people are getting pissed with it all

I certainly won’t be paying to watch him beat a bum
-
@MiketheSnow I think the plan all along when usyk said he won’t fight until next year was to have a tune up fight to stay active .
Calling out Aj was a publicity stunt knowing it’s not ideal timing for aj , probably thinking they would find a reason to turn it down . And I think they would’ve in the end and we’re in the process of saying the contract isn’t right as we speak . -
@kiwiinmelb Charr is an absolutely terrible opponent as well. Fury will have to carry him for a few rounds so it doesn't look like a complete waste of time.
