I would have loved to jet over there and catch a couple of games, and was even planning to earlier in the year, but fuck the costs of flights, quite frankly.
That’s dedication. Most people I know can’t even get off their arses to watch mens Rugby at the stadium let along go overseas for woman’s rugby.

the competition they play in is tournament Sundays
And the biggest joke of this: sometimes our little club will be playing against teams with rep players or NSW wider squad girls.
Why? "Oh because we had XVs yesterday so we're missing a few people. You don't mind if we drop down into your grade and still smash fuck out of everyone yeah?"
It is easy to ref, mind you, as you're only going between halfway and the goal posts at one end.

Side rant: as an admin for a small club, we've got a womens 7s side that has had varying degrees of success and participation the last 3 seasons (thanks COVID and Gen Z bitchiness). TBH we lack the volunteers to give it a full go, and the competition they play in is tournament Sundays where the mens play Saturdays.
I'm also a Board member for our Suburban comp and we've identified womens as very important to get going on Saturdays and play alongside the mens. Either as 7s (maybe longer halves) or 10s.
I have refereed a couple of the womens Sunday tournaments this year, as well as running one at our club. Every time the tournament notice goes out, clubs are told they need to supply an AR. The ones that usually do are Subbies clubs. Premier don't even give a fuck enough to supply more than a manager/coach on the day, and they're the fluffybunnies with all the money.
The Premier Rugby Board just expects everyone to turn up and fall over themselves to be part of their great "grassroots" rugby, instead of actually finding the means to make their operations sustainable. They've got no idea what grassroots means, they just wave the word around and complain that nobody funds their shitty product.
So things haven't changed since my days being involved over there NTA.

I doubt whether I can head up tp games, my only little thing is I have signed up tp Spark Sport to follow the tournament, I will then drop it again. This is from someone who has never been in raptures over women's rugby, but feel I want to support it where I can etc.
-
For those that don't want to pay for Spark Sport there is a free to air option of 8 games including all NZ Pool matches
Edit: FTA in UK is via ITV (some on ITV, some on ITV4)

Except it is shrinking

Runners-up is an optimistic prediction. Everything will depend on how the SF match-ups pan out. For the BFs and every other team, that means avoiding England. But France won't be easy either. Maybe England and France end up playing each other in one SF, which wouldn't say much for the integrity of the format as they are in the same pool.

Lol world rugby and integrity of format at world cups.
This is the same bunch that seed 3 years before the comp for the men and end up with the top 4 teams on the same side of the draw
-
@Machpants A different argument here. You're getting 8 teams for the QFs from only 3 pools, which will be seeded based on the position they finished in their respective pools and most competition points scored.
Even with the absurd early seedings at the RWC, there is still winner and runner-up from each pool so you know your path through the play-offs.

Don't think that will happen. Basically we need France to be ranked 3rd after the pools if we want an 'easy' semi. One of Canada or USA is likely to rank third though unless there is an upset.
I think I wrote this earlier but quarter finals are based on overall points from pool play rather than position in pool.
NZ could top the quarters ranking as they could rack up 3 big wins but England or France are potentially hamstrung by playing each other (as are Canada and USA)
At a rough prediction I would think the quarter ranking may be
NZ
England
Canada
France
Australia
USA
Fiji
WalesIf that is the case the organisers won't be too happy as three of the four quarters will be rematches
NZ v Wales
England v Fiji
Canada v USA
France v AusThe RWC website doesn't explain how the semi finals order will go but I am expecting that it is ranking from pools again as the quarters are numbered 1-4 but NZ plays in 2 irrespective of position as a match venue thing.
There is also the possibility that England clock up such big scores in their pool that they top the ranking and push us into a preferred lighter semi. They would need a bigger win v France than we get against Aus though.

@Stargazer UK VPN and itv for me
Be prepared for ads on ITV app. I have also had issues in the past with ITV app (on Firestick) as their ad server goes looking for tailoring info and can 'freeze'
A possible solution is via Chrome on laptop as there is a 'Streamlocator' add on (google it) which is free. You do need to sign up for ITV but that is fairly easy in that you really only need a postcode.
