So we are getting done at scrum time, not winning the contact in D, and racking up a lot of penalties? If so Ireland are not getting much profit points-wise. Although a yellow would open things up... are we flustered with ball in hand? Looking likely to break their line?

Ireland’s defence is very good so not easy to find a way through. On D our timing of the rush is wrong more often than not.

Yeah Irish commentators are horrendous. Just cheerleaders.

    Good game.

Karl looks out on his feet in defence.

    Squire again average before departing.

AB got reemed in that half, fortunate to be only three points down. Big half time for Mr Hansen. How does he get his players to turn this around?

Ireland well on top. Disappointing to see our scrum go backwards. We can't really do anything to stop them keeping the ball on attack. We just have to be smart about whether we concede penalties. Read's penalty for offside was really dumb at the end there.

We have sort of attacked like Ireland when we have had the ball. We have shown a bit of patience but haven't got the quick ball to break their line.

We are bloody lucky to be only down 9-6, and to leave the field with 15 men. Way, way too many stupid fucking penalties. Not liking what is happening with the scrum either when we have been pretty solid in prior games.

Bad discipline and silly mistakes have cost us any momentum

Ireland defense is always good in the first 40, hard to recall a game where we have opened them up early on. 60 minutes on is when we start to chance our arm a bit more, going to be a very interesting second half.

Our forwards need to stand up and man the f up. If they continue to get dominated, it could get embarrassing.

Ireland playing all the rugby on the back of a shitload of penalties. Not really doing a lot with it though.
Great defence both sides, not many missed tackles out there.
I think we’ve just got to keep plugging away, a chance or two will present itself and we’ve just got to bloody nail them when they do.

@paekakboyz We haven't looked like breaking their line at all. Our attack looks very predictable and our defence is passive as per usual. They look a lot more organised and have a heap of backline moves. They look better coached to be honest.

I’m starting to think BB at 10 has a real problem reading the field when he’s got the defence in his face. Looking for a weakness in the air that isn’t there in Ireland’s back 3 isn’t working.

That is where my optimism lies ,

All about possession though and Ireland winning up front , that’s where my pessimism lies

How many times can Goldie and JK mention that the game is an arm wrestle?

    Ireland 65% possession.

    And 9-2 penalties.

Yeah that's the most annoying thing, this year we've cut out they pointless penalties, fair enough if it's too stop a try but Whitelock in the middle of the field, for ex? But they seem to have come back for this game. Ireland are a possession team, so don't give them easy possession and territory.

That aside, totally dominated in the stats and only 3 down! Also even if we lose I love it that Beaudy can knock over drop goals. Another arrow to quiver

@jc Bring Richie on and move BB to fullback? DMac is looking suspect under the high ball too so might not be a bad move to make the sub at half time.

Who doesn't? They are rushing up not letting us play at the moment. Our big chances to score tries we have made basic errors and let them off the hook. Both Whitelock and BBBR have given away stupid penalties. It's the pressure

My suspicion (hope) is that this is exactly where Fatguts expected to be and he’s bet the house on the subs cracking this one open. Big call when the home crowd are going to give the Irish an extra leg up in the final 20.

Reminds me of the Crusaders shutting down the hurricanes at the moment. Barrett unable to unlock the rush defense

Doesn't run on to the ball when under pressure, does not have a 'step' (he uses his pace to create the gaps) and is not a natural decision maker when it comes to passing. A rush defence is proving to be the way to shut him down.

Which makes the drop goal option real valuable. Glad to see it added to Barrett's armoury
