So the JWC uses the 4+ try bonus point and not the "3 tries more than the opponent" bonus point like in SR. That's why Australia and France - despite suffering bigger losses than NZ - have a bonus point and go through to the semis, and NZ doesn't.
Edited to add that it has rained cards in some games (can't say anything about them being deserved or not, because I couldn't watch the games).
France v Argentina:
Red card for a French player in the 10th minute and for an Argentinian player in the 18th. Also a yellow card for an Argentinian in the 26th minute.England v Australia:
Australian red card in the 2nd minuteWales v Fiji:
Two yellow cards for FijiSouth Africa v NZL
3 yellow cards for South Africans -
I feel bad calling out players who are still teens but there were a few duds in that side and no stars I could see.
Philpott says "The major measure of this team is not 'winning a world championship'. And I know that sounds a bit odd, but the key measure is actually the conversion rate into Super Rugby and the All Blacks." That's all well and good Craig, but it isn't a coincidence the winning sides tend to produce ABs in abundance.

@taniwharugby
Should have been 22 to 25...you got me.Yes we were outmuscled by SA but it was worse than that, there were bad decisions, poor skills, and lazy body language/poor communication.

Just heard on the radio, NZ were turning down kicks at goal...Maths obviously was not a strong point with some of these kids, you would think they would have known exactly what was required to progress..
On saying all that, are we that surprised...?Just on the spark ,I bought Sparks coverage of RWC at the cheap price as back just in case TVNZs live coverage of all games fall over..!,itโs a bit of joke on my part, but watch that space ..!

We've said from the beginning: Philpott is a shit coach and doesn't know how to select the best possible team. If you leave better players - with Mitre 10 Cup experience - at home, you can't expect anything better. Add to that the attitude that it isn't about winning, and your fate is sealed. I agree, the coach has to go, but will NZR have the guts to let him go?

@Steven-Harris Burke isn't a very good goal kicker anyway. That's another reason why they needed Toala.

@Stargazer said in 2019 under 20's:
South Africans on twitter are complaining that Finau wasn't carded here.
Based on how the tournament has been reffed, I was surprised it wasn't a yellow but I don't think he actually connected with the head, it just glanced off his upper shoulder and looked bad because of the whiplash.
Playing with fire hitting anywhere near the upper shoulder these days.

@mofitzy_ one of those ones where if he was YC'd he should have zero to complain about (probably should have been though), but also one where you need to look at it in the context of player height and he is dropping too...sometimes it isnt easy for the tackler to adjust his height line once committed.

Coach would surely go after 3 years anyway. Win, lose or draw.
In fact it's a waste to waste 3 years of tournament experience on the same guy. Should be a pathway for coaches just (currently) below SR level.
Sign of the times maybe? No coaches left in the country.
