a fair chunk of that NZ 180 is not at SR level
Indeed and probably why some of them left. Some have also gone on to have pretty good international careers recently, so a spread of the ones we would have liked to keep, and also some meh.
I was really only talking about the numbers though, not the quality of them.

Top, top player and a gent to boot. The article, oddly, doesn’t mention that he did a year at Ulster when he recovered from his leukemia - a big crowd favorite who the club would have liked to stay on. Got a long standing ovation as he left the pitch in Ravenhill for last time. Best of luck to him in Japan.

Not really an exodus announcement, but this seems the best place to post this.

He has made just the two appearances for Nth Harbour has the world's 114th and Mitre10 Cup's 15th ranked number 5. Amazingly highly rankings for someone a large proportion of knowledgeable people on here have probably never heard of.

The beginning of the end of the mass exodus to Europe at least?

@Yeetyaah I can't answer that question. The London Irish media release of his signing says "later in the year once his New Zealand contractual commitments have been completed".
You'd assume that his NZR contract is until the end of the year, because at the time he was still in the All Blacks squad and they (London Irish) would probably have expected him to go to the RWC, but there may be an out-clause.
Also, when All Blacks sign a contract with the NZRU, they usually also sign a contract with their province, but again, there may be an out-clause. Question is, will he use that out-clause?
London Irish probably isn't counting on him to come before the RWC ends.
It may also depend on whether NZR expect him to stay on stand-bye in case of an All Blacks injury crisis (although you'd think they have enough players to cover wing).
-
@Stargazer I could see him staying for injury replacement, I would argue he'd be the next best choice.. Melani Nanai is being held back for injury replacement apparently which seems ridiculous. Taranaki needs all the bolstering they can get after last season.
-
Naholo will be sticking around
He is next man up if a winger is injured for NZ
LI were not expecting him to be there until the Autumn tbh
-
@Yeetyaah Yeah, but they currently have Rieko, Reece, Bridge and Ennor who all play on the wing, and then there's Ben Smith (and even Jordie). Not all of them will be in the RWC squad, so the player(s) not in the RWC squad will be the first to be called-up in case of injury, ahead of Naholo. So the injury crisis would have to be huge.
