Taranaki playmaker Jayson Potroz will play in the Major League Rugby competition after signing with the New England Free Jacks.
The 30-year-old, who missed the second half of Taranaki’s national provincial championship season because of a recurring shoulder injury, will join a number of New Zealand players at the Boston-based club.
They include Taranaki team-mates Jesse Parete and Mills Sanerivi, former Chiefs loose forward Mitch Jacobson and Hawke’s Bay prop Joel Hintz.
Potroz replaces former Taranaki utility back Beaudein Waaka who has signed with Japanese club Kobelco Steelers.

@Stargazer he is still signed for Northland in 2023 though
-
@taniwharugby Plenty of players are combining MLR and NPC. The scheduling of both competitions allows that, fortunatley. So players signing for MLR clubs isn't really a worry for the NPC; only - in some cases - for the SRP depth as franchises will have to dig deeper when injury strikes.

Two NZ props have re-signed with Toronto Arrows:
Hawke's Bay's Lolani Faleiva and Ta$man's Isaac Salmon.

Isaiah Punivai has signed with Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath in Japan.

@Stargazer i knew he was off to MLR, but interesting that says former Northland lock, my understanding was he had re-signed, maybe it didn't workout shame if he isn't back, he is a very good npc player.
-
@taniwharugby Maybe he has? A lot of NPC players come back in the MLR off season.

@taniwharugby I agree with @African-Monkey. I wouldn't read to much in the wording they use.
