@nostrildamus Dupont is the World Player of the Year - it's not a huge leap to call him the best 9 in the world, especially considering TKB plays in France.

Oh I agree, plus he is a 9/10 in a way we don't seem to have here but just idly pointing out people were calling A Smith the best 9 in the world a few months ago. I think he has competition but yeah they play slightly different roles. This French team really looks like it is getting it together and not just for a game or two every so often.

Anyway, I caught a bit of TKB playing last night. Still looks like he'd do well in black.

If in similar form to pre-exodus, he'd be ranked #2 halfback perhaps? I liked his form in black. Workmanlike perhaps but efficient and excellent defender.

Leicester have bolstered their back row options for the business end of the season by signing Sean Jansen from New Zealand.

Anyone know anything about Chandler Cunningham-South? Back row, played a bit of North Harbour and Canterbury age grade apparently. Signed an academy contract with London Irish a few weeks ago.

He's straight into the England U20s team (at 6) for their 6N game against Wales tomorrow.

He is so little known that he was not included in the Otago NPC team last season https://www.orfu.co.nz/newsarticle/105465?newsfeedId=1294795 nor, it appears so, their Development/Academy team https://www.orfu.co.nz/HIGH-PERFORMANCE/otago-academy although, as the photo seems to indicate he was the North Otago No. 8 in the Lochore Cup Final against Wanganui last season

Not really but he was in the Canterbury Under 19s last season out of Lincoln University RFC

and think he might have originated from Hamilton BHS (a bit of a longshot on this). With a name like he has got it sort of indicates he must have at least one pommie parent/grandparent for him to walk into the RFUs Under 20s.

Really gets La Rochelle backs going. @crucial was Ihaia West outside him that day?

I’ve seen a couple of games now. In one of them West got deservedly hooked at halftime.

West had flashes of brilliance. Won the Blues that game against the Lions (along with SBW scoring a ridiculous try under the sticks)

I've never heard of him. Google says he went to Westlake BHS, but might have only been a 2nd XV player.

A real shame that we are losing a decent player overseas at the raw age of 21.

    Rugby

Connacht sign backrow Shamus Hurley-Langton from New Zealand

Connacht sign backrow Shamus Hurley-Langton from New Zealand

21 year old predominantly a number eight but has played in all three backrow positions

@canes4life Players have no patience these days. Rather go overseas than work their way up the pecking order and compete for a spot at a SR franchise. It's not mentioned in the media release, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he had Irish ancestry with that name. That could mean that - if they hope he'll develop into a test player - he doesn't have to wait 5 years.

He's been great for Manawatu, and might have been worth a SR contract. That's a real shame.

The last sentence of the article says despite his name it is understood he is not Irish qualified.
