No way we should be resting or rotating Squire. He needs as much time if he’s going to build as our number one blindside.

To me it’s the midfield and back 3 that will be of most interest. Argies look threatening when going wide. I’d hope we have match ready and in form players.

@allblacksfan72 Sam Whitelock has played a lot of minutes this year and I think they will play him off the bench as a result. They should have selected an extra lock in the squad imo so that we could have given both our rock star locks some time off during the RC.

I'd pick Fifita. He ticks all the boxes and then some with his raw athleticism....but then there's the glaring fact he won't get picked at lock cos he said he doesn't want to be a lock.

Fifita is not in the squad.
Taylor needs a rest, as do Sam Whitelock and Aaron Smith.

Ah yeah thanks I did realise that....my funny post clearly whooshed past you.

@98blueandgold be surprised if we see Crotty again this series, if at all this season.

All Blacks loosehead prop Joe Moody will miss the remainder of the Rugby Championship due to a broken thumb. Chiefs prop Angus Ta'avao has been called up as his replacement.

    Well done!

If there was an award for most improved player Ta'avao would be it. Cast off from the Blues (not necessarily a bad thing), and then had a mixed time at the Tahs, before turning up for preseason with the Chiefs with no contract.

@chris-b Hey it ticks all the boxes CBD location (fuck you Auckland/Sydney/ Paris/London....) means walking distance to - well the whole fucking city TBH but I mean the bar district is what 5 minutes walk away - and if you don't like the first bar, well there's always the other two.

What other test venue allows you to go whitebaiting at the back of the stands?

Plus Trailways - am I right - or am I right?

Seriously I think it's great and if I was going to be in the country I would definitely have tried to get a couple of tickets. Weekend in Nelson is always acceptable. Instead of which I'll be trying to find a bar in Hanoi with the footy on.

    Enjoy

@dogmeat You can run down to Trailways at halftime - and take the minibus to the Brightwater Hotel at fulltime if you don't like the large selection of Central City bars. πŸ™‚

    It will be great.

I watched the 2nd Lions test last year at the Brightwater Motor Inn. The locals were . . . interesting.

This is very good news actually that NZ are forced to get some starts in Tuinukiafe, and the injury to Moody is as minor as a thumb fracture.

I say this believing, as far as I know, that Moody is the best current LHP in test rugby.

KT needs some serious (starting) minutes before RWC.

having guys like Ta'avao and Tu'unukuafi in our squad could be looked at in 2 ways:

1 - Our much vaunted depth isnt what it is thought of given ABs call in 2 guys who had no contracts at end of last year
2 - Meh, just grab those 2 fellas, they look like props, she'll be right, this is NZ, everyone can play for the ABs.

@taniwharugby or you factor in the multiple injured players and that it's not without precedent that props are better in their mid-late 20s than their early 20s.

Plus factor in the mistakes made with handing out Super Rugby contracts (as a Blues fan i'm all too aware of this).

No - on second thoughts, I was still banned from the Brightwater at that stage! πŸ™‚

I wouldn't be surprised if they start Perry and bring big Karl off the bench.

Have to throw the locals a bone. πŸ˜‰
