Exactly the same thing as last week, when Baker's ill-discipline cost them the 5th spot.

I maintain this has to be a coaching issue.

There's something not right in their environment it appears. Samoa didn't do anything special at all, NZ just looked to have zero interest at times. Making a tackle is a novelty.

Dumb from Fiji to kick on that last play - Boks had them covered for pace. Better off hitting a few up in the middle and offloading

Fiji up 19 - 0 at half time, but then 20 unanswered point from South Africa. Again ill-discipline a big factor.

Looking at the Series table, there's a clear top 5. Only the top 4 earns automatic qualification for the 2020 Olympics.
AB7s not safe yet. Need to step up.

Really impressed with Samoa. They just look like a bunch of plucky kids from the wrong side of the tracks, who found themselves in the big leagues.

    Who's their coach again?

Black Ferns 7s for the Kitakyushu Sevens in Japan this weekend:

    1 Ruby Tui
    2 Shakira Baker
    3 Stacey Waaka
    4 Niall Williams
    5 Sarah Hirini – captain
    6 Cheyelle Robins-Reti
    7 Tyla Nathan-Wong
    8 Dhys Faleafaga
    9 Tenika Willison
    10 Rhiarna Ferris
    11 Terina Te Tamaki
    12 Alena Saili

*Risi Pouri-Lane is the travelling reserve.

The team features two new faces, with 18-year-old Dhys Faleafaga set to make her Black Ferns Sevens debut, while Rhiarna Ferris will play at her first World Series event after debuting at the Fast Four tournament in Hamilton.

Black Ferns Sevens Assistant Coach Cory Sweeney congratulated Rhiarna Ferris and Dhys Faleafaga ahead of their World Series debuts.

β€œIts two very different stories, Rhiarna has been working away for almost 18 months and has come back from injury for this opportunity while on the other hand, Dhys is straight out of school, she has only recently come into our team and has slotted in nicely. Its going to be exciting for both of them.”

The debuts come on the back of a handful of injuries to the Black Ferns Sevens, with a number of experienced players sidelined for the Kitakyushu event.

    Pool games
    Saturday 20 April (NZT)
    3.20pm:v Japan
    5.42pm: v Russia
    8.26pm: v France

    Where to watch
It looks like we'll have to watch day 1 and the Cup QF on day 2 via the WR Facebook page, because - looking at the Sky Sport broadcast schedule - it doesn't seem to be televised. Hopefully, it's not geo-blocked.

Day 2 - from the Cup SF - will be broadcast live on Sky Sport pop-up 1 (channel 55).

    @Machpants Pakistani cricketers?

Does anyone know if the 7's team made it back to NZ? I wouldn't trust them to catch a flight if is like their ball catching. They really have been awful last two events. England at Twickenham and closing in on 4th for the Olympics...
Didn't Scotland win it last year, or was it year before?
