Hurricanes 2019 Discussion

@kiwimurph Oh right, apologies. Yeah he looked fairly promising last year.
By the way, are they related?
-
From this article it looks like Rayasi hasn't decided what his next move will be so could still wind up anywhere. http://www.clubrugby.co.nz/wellington/story.php?id=2997

Mentioned on the Chiefs thread that Fletcher Smith has signed for the Canes. Pretty happy with that to be honest. Jackson Garden Bachop is probably the one that gets the boot with James Marshall also coming in.
JGB is signed untill the end of 2019 though so we could end up carrying four first fives which is probably pointless. I would rather them have BB, Smith and Marshall, with someone like McClutchie signed up for development.
-
@canes4life Yep, agree with that. It's telling that JGB wasn't called up for the Maori ABs anymore and they went for Josh Ioane instead. It will be interesting to see if they keep TJ Va'a. He's always injured. It would be much better to give his spot to McClutchie.

Fletcher smith, Richard judd and Salesi Rayasi should’ve been snapped up by the chiefs how useless
-
@yeahtheboys Rayasi is a Wellington boy so I can understand that.
Compare the Canes props to that of the Chiefs!
-
No Jack Whetton as rumored. May mean he is at the Highlanders.
-
I would have had Flanders over most of those loose forwards. Heigen Bedwell Curtis is a huge suprise.
It think we could really struggle at Prop and Loose forward.

Yeah, I suspect he'll leave the Auckland NPC side too
No Renata or Whetton - those were the other Aucklanders rumoured to be heading to the Canes
-
Interesting: Heiden Bedwell-Curtis. Another player who had to be discovered by another franchise first before getting a chance at the Canes
Rayasi taking Julian Savea's spot.
Devan Flanders not in the list, so he must have a development contract. No other, new Magpies in the squad either. In fact, we've gone down a player with West leaving.
No more Peter Umaga Jensen, TJ Va'a (both always injured)
-
Renata has been a big improver, as his scrummaging was poor. As @Daffy-Jaffy says, there would be room for him at the Blues ahead of Tamoaieta/Mafileo.
-
When do the WTG get named?
-
@bovidae I spoke to Renata's Dad a while ago and he said that this is only his fourth year playing prop. It is not then surprising that he is on a learning curve in scrummaging skills. All other parts of his game are top class I reckon.
-
@canes4life They rarely get published. To think of it, I've never seen it published since they're no longer included in the main squad lists. They're not even on teams' websites.
-
@canes4life aren't the WTG the ones named with an asterisk? E.g. Rayasi
