Does Sinfield actually have pedigree? Good move to get more coverage with BBC though. They're obsessed with him.

@Bones Sinfield is Leicester Tiger's defence coach at the moment.
Steve Borthwick's superb record as an Assistant Coach to Eddie Jones and more recently as a Head Coach speaks for itself.
I met him a couple of times when he was at Saracens and liked him. Knowledgable and passionate about the game, a very decent bloke, a bit shy. I wonder what the media will make of him. I can't believe his press conferences will be anything like as entertaining as Eddie's.

Sinfield will hopefully do for England what Edwards did for Wales and does for France
This could be the masterstroke that takes them to the the next level

@Stargazer not really a surprise is it? Still not sure that dumping EJ was a sound idea, certainly had a few players come out and say they think it was a mistake.
British rugby media got their man basically.

Seems that way, once media started, and the internet forums got into it, seems his days were numbered.

Eddie lost to South Africa, Argentina, should have lost to us.
Lost a game in Australia. Lost to the Barbarians
Lost to Ireland, France and Scotland.
That's just this year. That should get you fired as a head coach, World Cup in a year be damned.

Pretty much. There's been a mountain of revisionist takes on his departure.
Ultimately performances on the pitch outside of that Oz series victory have been very poor. We've won a total of 4 games in the last two 6N (2 of those were against Italy). That's just not good enough. His record is padded by the excellent start he had and we've not looked a good team since 2019.
You can put up with Eddie's shtick whilst he's getting results, but it gets tiring when you're dealing with the mediocrity on display at the moment.
Is Borthwick the right man for the job? Time will tell, but for me, it was time for a change despite the timing.

Wales coaches Gethin Jenkins and Stephen Jones have left their roles with the national team as new boss Warren Gatland is set to freshen up his backroom team ahead of the Six Nations starting in February.
Gatland succeeded Wayne Pivac as Wales head coach earlier this month to rejoin the team he enjoyed a 12-year spell with from 2007-2019.
The 59-year-old has opted to keep forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys and kicking coach Neil Jenkins in his coaching staff.
The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) said in a statement that their search to replace Jenkins and Jones is underway and they expect to have the roles filled by January.

Gethin’s time will come again
Jones, not sure
