I know... when you follow Wales for a few years you learn that teams that are far too strong for Italy (or Samoa or Fiji...) can still find a way to grind out a defeat

I mean, you're right, but we're not supposed to say these things out loud

If not now, then when?
Pivac named the side early. All fit and firing.

@mikethesnow
After we win the World Cup, then I'll feel safeBut yeah, seriously, we should have no problem with this team. On current form anything less than a BP win would be disappointing.
And I'm quite looking forward to England- France too, that's a no lose match. Always good to see England lose to France, but if it goes the other way that's a good result for us

Yeah, not happy with that. Teams are named on Thursdays and he knows it, he's a Kiwi. We'd be accused of arrogance for that - "it's only Italy, just name a team whenever".
As a closet Wales fan, I'm pleasantly surprised at how they are going (albeit with a bit of red card help).

For what it's worth I can see most of your points of view and agree to one degree or another with some. But taken as a whole that decision was just plain wrong. Ask yourself if your team was on the receiving end of that decision whether or not you'd be fuming. No ifs and buts, would you be fuming?
France did it to us in RWC 2011 pool play.
I'm still dark about it

Maybe if he'd named an experimental team, but this is virtually full strength, which says he's not taking Italy lightly

Was the naming of the team before Thursday - not the strength of the team. Teams are named on Thursdays around here - it a long standing tradition.

Putting down the marker.
Saying this is the team he's picking to go to Italy to get a BP win to go in to the final match of the 6N knowing a loss will probably give Wales the title.
Up to England and France to stop Wales getting the Grand Slam.

Erm. We had our chance and fucked it up. 😟😤

True.
Should have read up to England to stop France getting the Slam, and France to stop Wales.

Yeah, I knew what you meant mate, I’m just feeling a bit nit-picky. Probably because I’ve got my first jab this afternoon and whilst I want it, I’m not exactly looking forward to it.
FWIW I don’t think we’ll do a number on France, so your boys will have to do it the hard way I’m afraid.

England team to face France:
England: Malins; Watson, Slade, Farrell, May; Ford, Youngs; M Vunipola, Cowan-Dickie, Sinckler, Itoje, Ewels, Wilson, Curry, B Vunipola.
Replacements: George, Genge, Stuart, Hill, Earl, Robson, Lawrence, Daly
Good to see Malins get a start at Fullback because 1) He has been lighting it up in the Premiership for Bristol and 2) Daly has proved that he is not a Fullback's arse, good player though he is.
I worry about Farrell who has looked short of a gallop and whether Billy V can bring the same tempo two games running. Wilson needs to get that bit of dog back too - he was anonymous v Scotland. I might have been tempted to go with Earl as a starter instead. God we miss Underhill.
I think this is a game that may be beyond us, I would be happy with just a performance, which is pretty damning in itself.
Oh and penalties in single figures please.

@daffy-jaffy Thanks. That does not increase my optimism.
