On reflection, one area France were outstanding was kick reception. Neuterred a weapon England has become very overreliant on.
-
@Catogrande so this is the only test that Beckenham had a jersey on a seat...
-
@Bones That's cool. Too many there for me to recognise any individually.

Poor kicking and an even poorer chase hands them that initiative. Having said that Dulin the fullback did take the high ball very well.
-
@Catogrande and they performed like a typical 'nam forward pack, just sayin'...

Corellation or causation do you think? Never liked Beckenham...

@cgrant and yet they didn't even seem to feature in TRC...
Totally anonymous.

Charlie don't surf!
Or play rugby, so I'm confused about the Nam forward pack analogy

I don't know who Charlie is. I'm Laost.

You would need too delete your account in shame for not having watched Apocalypse Now, if that was true!

Nah. Beknam. Innit.
-
I didn't realise that England got jetted by their crowd! Bad sign
-
@Machpants Shaping as a semi-final exit. Contenders will know they have to train specifically to beat Eddie Jones' band of merry orcs. Eddie may just be focusing on the hosts...

Pretty good lists on Wikipedia. Including bled in Qatar, ABs Fiji in Whangarei!
Looks like we will be Wales, Ireland, and France. After our riveting Italy & Fiji home games (which won't happen)
-
@Machpants I believe it when I actually see it confirmed by the national unions. It's wikipedia after all.
-
Yeah. It appears France appear to have given up on touring, only a French baa baa side to South America. French clubs slowly winning the war

@Machpants be great if it happens...usually there would have been more of a thing made of it if we had picked it up!
I do think it is good if they send those matches around the provinces...well, start doing so.
Last was New Plymouth in 2017 v Arg
Napier 2014 v Arg
2013 New Plymouth v France
2010 New Plymouth v Ireland
2008 New Plymouth v SamoaThats it for this century outside Albany, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch or Dunedin
Then 1996 Napier v Samoa
Looking over the records, prior to that appears only shared between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch & Dunedin

There was a test in Nelson recently. Or was that a covid casualty?

Bristol Bears and England prop Kyle Sinckler will miss the start of the Six Nations after being banned for two weeks for swearing at a referee. He will miss England's opener against Scotland on 6 February, but will be back to face Italy a week later.
The British & Irish Lion avoids missing both of the first two matches of England's Six Nations campaign because the squad has not yet been named, meaning his ban will also cover Bristol's league match against Bath on Friday, 29 January. He will be free to play again on 9 February.

@Stargazer He's been a lucky boy and it once again highlights the lottery that is the judiciary.
-
Probably a better thread for this somewhere, but the Japanese comp is about be suspended due to Covid outbreaks, loads of players and staff have it

so despite everything going to hell in a handbasket over there, it's suddenly the 6N this weekend?
take away the crowds and the travelling fans, and all you are left with is the dire rugby.

We’ll see
Dire is better than none, and beggars can’t be choosers
-
@MiketheSnow I was being somewhat facetious
I'll watch at least one game

Yeah, I struggle to be excited about it this year. Although having said that, England vs Scotland in 2019 is one of the best games I've seen.
-
France vs. England should be a decent watch, and I'll be interested to see how Wales goes. That's about it for me though.

I would quite happily watch/listen to one of those alternative-commentary youtube streams type things, with Nigel Owens watching the game, and criticising the ref (and/or the commentators calls on the ref)
-
@Kruse Owens is a fucking treasure

This is not in the least bit surprising. Scotland and exciting Rugby go together like Bacon and Eggs.
