Clinical Crusaders
-
Crusaders forwards go straight down fat man's alley to score
-
Bit of emotion from both coaches boxes tonight.
-
How is Savea rated over Todd in any facet of the game?
Beautiful try. Reckon Makalio would be a good call to bring into the ABs.
No idea why it wasn't a penalty for Buckman being held back on the kick chase.

Savea is obviously better than Todd at several facets of the game.
-
@hydro11 ones not readily obvious and meaningful to us watching at home I guess.

@hydro11 What are those?
Metres gained in contact is an obvious one. Pure speed as well.
-
Horrible defence from the scrum.
Lenjties was far too slow to cover his ground there.
Great finish Mounga
-
@gunner Lentjes seemed to give up really soon too
-
We’re seeing some great tries tonight.
Defence not so great.
-
Bridge caught out there.
-
Great speed from Moanga, but the Highlanders hit straight back.
Crusaders backs have looked pedestrian on defence a couple of times tonight.
-
Don't rush up for a spot tackle when the next man in the line is Naholo. He only needs half a gap to make ground. A full gap = a try.
-
@taniwharugby ones obvious to Steve H so I bow to the knowledge of a back to back WC winning coach. I rate Todd highly, I think he may have the Marty Holah syndrome.
-
@crucial if he had slid out to cover Naholo the space woulda been opened on the inside.
-
Going on this years form, teams with Todd in seem to function a lot better than teams with Savea...
Edited to add: The canes even looked much better early season when Henwood was playing.

Didn't need to slide. Rushing up created the hole. That's where sometimes you need to hold ground on defence and make them come to you.
-
L Whitelock is awesome.
-
@crucial the whole line was broken there, if he is covering Naholo, carrier he goes inside and then Naholo still has space outside him as he cant tackle Naholo without the ball
-
Great hands Luke Whitelock....

Good enough for an England call up if he wasn't already taken.

Don't forget while Todd is pretty short, Ardie Savea is at least 6 foot 5 - a real lineout option at international level.
-
Haaa that's a bullshit penalty. Lying down Naholo prolly shouldn't be trying to pick the ball up out of a ruck.
-
Why is Marshall saying Naholo shouldn’t have been allowed to go for that turnover in which he won the penalty?
He was the first man on his feet to the tackle, of course he is allowed a crack FFS, doesn’t matter how many people were involved in the tackle and now on the ground.
-
@toddy only at Super level...

Really? Shit I didn't even notice Bridge playing for the AB's. What test was that?

He seemed to be saying that you can't get a turnover from a ruck.
-
@kev bits of everything but if the defender had held back on his marker the ball carrier would likely have held on for a few more steps giving the rest of the D time to get in line. If he had still passed early then it was a pass behind the gain line with a chance for defenders to come across. As it was the defender forced the pass to a man in a gap made even bigger by rushing up.

It's Marshall. What does he know anyway. Just ignore the twat.

Yea, that’s the problem. How was it a ruck when Naholo was the first one there?

Also ball security and tackle work rate to name a couple more.

Naholo...needed to pass earlier. Thompson was in perfect position, Marshall you egg. Naholo just got too greedy.

Ball security how? Tackle work rate as in - attempts more tackles?
-
@gunner 2 people is a ruck now.
-
@taniwharugby even if they’re off their feet?
