If you want to have jumping then don't have different penalties based on where someone lands. It's fucking stupid to have a different result solely due to where someone lands. Just decide if it's yellow or red and make it the same sanction all the time.
Anyway, ABs played shitter against 14 than they probably would have against 15.
Really think the answer is in the card system. For 'accidental' offences such as today and with Ofa we need something like an orange card where the offending player is sent off for the duration but can be replaced. edit: after 10 minutes

Find a way to make this sport work.
No matter how many Will Smith movies, BOD almost dieing, and Alistair Campbell's screechng journos who were putty in his hands .

I think the plan is good especially the shallow wipers kick to the wing. You can pressure an error or catch him in possession well away from the pack using the sideline as your friend. As long as the opposition feels they had to work hard to get back they will start holding back on the rush.

We got it 'right' a couple of times we just played so crappy that after slowing the rush we didn't take advantage.
Basically playing the game moving forward is way better than having to keep going backwards even if you concede possession at times. -
Not the best performance with a lot of players off their best. Bench offered very little as well. Substitutions seemed a little scattergun tonight.
I thought it was a RC offence on normal viewing but was hoping it would only be a YC.
Geez Crotty has some bad luck with his noggin. It didn't look like much in that head knock with Bast but the blood was pouring out big time and he looked groggy. Any word on his HIA?
The Wallabies v Ireland test had more intensity than this one.

@booboo I can think of plenty of poor performances. The classic 'All Pinks' clash vs the Wallabies in 2007 prior to the RWC. I think the forwards never got off the team bus that day.
Dunners loss in 2009. They should've burnt the stadium after that.

One thing to keep in mind when talking about them taking how a player lands into consideration is that removing that part is likely to just lead to harsher red cards because they would need a definition that fit situation like the one tonight (and worse) and ones where the player taken out doesn't get flipped dangerously but still gets taken out.
There needs to be a red card threshold somewhere otherwise you will get guys flying into a jumping player and claiming they were going for the ball by just throwing an arm up or watching the ball. The Boks did it lots in 08/09 and it was shit.
A modified card system and a more clearly defined set of tackle thresholds which are strictly and consistently applied is the only way out of this mess. Giving ref more freedom to pluck something out of their arse would only swing it another inconsistent direction.

Maybe for these kind of 'behavioural change' issues they have stricter bans? Say any accidental or careless contact with a jumper is a penalty on the field but followed up with an automatic 8 week ban; no hearings, appeals, or exacerbating or mitigating factors. Just learn to time your run. Still a heavy disincentive for the player but without ruining the game.
