@catogrande So it is either Hughes or Shields at lock if either of the starters go down. Color me unconvinced.

    Agreed.

What was the point of taking Cipriani on tour if you are going to have Piers Francis on the bench?

Well done to Piers, but he's not exactly a world beater. Solid but unspectacular at the Blues

@hooroo couple of betting agencies have SA @ ~1.60-1.70 and England ~2.20-2.25

will be an interesting game, not sure it will tell us a great deal though.

SAF don't look as good as I was expecting. On Paper.

    5, 4, 3, 2 would be a worry?

Although I don't have name-recognition yet with the young black-african outside backs.

Eddie with a master-stroke of deflection. No one will be paying Shields' selection attention anymore. It's all WTF is Brown doing on the wing.

You're ignoring the elephant; Willie le Roux to do something dumb.

I'm looking forward to watching Nkosi and Gelant. Very inexperienced, but both looked classy in Super Rugby. The big question - as with any new player - is whether they can do the same tricks at test level.

I hope Pollard can stay injury free; there's so much daylight between him and Jantjies, who I don't rate at all.
Van Zyl, apart from his name, I can't remember him from SR, but I'm not a fan of Faf de Klerk, so that will interesting.

    The Springboks will miss Marx.

I think Rassie will be suicidal to not put Louw on at 3. Mostert at 5 isnt terrible. Bongi at hooker gives away 25kg+ and 10cm to Both Marx and Bismark. Hell Bongi couldnt even find a starting berth at the Stormers the whole season 🤣

Gelant to be a bok 15 for a while to come IMO, I suspect Rassie is just looking for some experience in that backline for now.

Bakkies posing for a photo with the u/20 bokke

It's funny how the lock one step up behind him, RG Snyman, had to move to the side to get in the shot.

    :::

Spoiler: this is not the u/20 bok team.

    Nobody watching this?
    3-24 England after about 20
    Now, 22-24,
Pommy Shields already on the field.

Did the turnaround coincide with Shields?

Never known the boks to be able to chase down a big score. Game isn't over yet but coming back from the dead has been impressive.

That was a cripple fight between defensive retards.

Vomited a little when I saw Brad "English" Shields heading out.
