boys have been back at soccer for about a month? and because it's outside we do get to watch.

Eldest is in his first year of competitive. Loving the challenge.

Youngest has been bumped to the age group above him, and he fucking loves it. Bigger field, more structure. I wish he played rugby though...

He probably wishes there were things seen he could unsee....

I played soccer as a kid, old man forced me into it fucken hated it. Too boring, was always happy when games were washed out ( growing up in Wellington that was most Saturday’s)

TR Jnr is missing rugby this season (as I am missing coaching, didnt think I would!!)

He is only doing TKD this year, has a grading in a fortnight (will take him to brown belt) unsure if he will keep going or will have a break...

Miss TR, started hockey a few weeks back, new team, but seems to be enjoying being back out there!!

I have come to terms with Raz jr not playing rugby. At Keebra Park the rugby players are bigger than me. David Fifita and Payne Haas are the same sizes they were in their final year of schoolboy footy.

I remember being trampled by Dominic Feaunati at my sons age and effectively all the way to club rugby and league. He was enormous back then. And he's nowhere near as big as Haas or Fifita. So son number one can play basketball.

@Virgil aren't we about the same age? Maybe it was losing to the mighty Eastbourne that made you hate it.

Probably was, I was living in Upper Hutt as a kid, anyone south was an enemy. ( Lower Hutt, Perone etc)

@Virgil I spent many a spell in Wallaceville. That BMX track down by the river was the best in Welly too.

Loved the Hutt, lived there till I was 16. Parents owned a dairy, best years of my life growing up. Free junk food and the pretty fellow teenage girls working behind the counter with you while your mates looked on with envy

I blame the lack of male role model parent.

Apparently the kid was originally into rugby, then he busted into his dads bedroom one evening and now he's into soccer... Weird.

Can’t remember the name just that it was on the main drag before Upper Hutt, maybe Silverstream?
That would have been around 85 - 87

Had similar disbelief with mine. Was telling them how when they phased out the 1c and 2c coins that my local diary started offering some lollies at 20 for 5cents!

@voodoo True story. On my tenth birthday I bought 50 cents worth of mixed lollies on the way to school, it was a big fuckoff bag of all sorts of the bastards. Heaven. When I turned around from the counter in the dairy I bumped (literally) into Miss Everett the school dental nurse. She says "I hope you're not going to eat all those yourself". Ha ha. Sure as eggs later that day I got the call to attend the murder house where she drilled out half of one of my molars and put in a shit filling that still gives me grief to this day. So for my tenth birthday I got a pointless filling. Miss Everett, if you're reading you are a malicious old bag.
