@mariner4life I agree. JTA and Perry are our next best props? We are thin. 2 good locks and one that can run but is underwhelminig in the physicality you need. Loose forwards? Cane and Fafita but the rest? Tuafua is not an international 8 so he is a 6 and not that imposing. Ardie is a 7 only. Akira, maybe MacDonald the Southerner can help out the Blues, and therefore your chances as an AB.
While our forwards excell in fitness I will be interested in the forward battle with the Boks who seem to be more competitive and physical this year based on their performances against the Kiwi sides. Their backs are playing with a bit more flair as well.

@sammyc He's bound to after covering his shit team mates virtually all season. No-one's 100% perfect in their play. As has been said though, he's being made to work for it which isn't a terrible thing and I doubt he gonna leave NZ rugby altogether either.

Looking ahead to the 1st test vs France, based on the comments from Hansen, Foster and Fox the only question mark in the backs is who plays between Naholo and J Barrett. That will also determine the makeup of the bench (TJP, DMac and ??).
In the forwards, I expect a starting loose forward trio of Squire, Cane and L Whitelock. Harris, Ofa, Perry/JTA in the reserves with probably S Barrett/Fifita and Savea. The fact that Ardie was mentioned again as cover at no.8 seems to suggest he's likely to be there ahead of Taufua.

Lots of forwards named in that squad I wouldn't be comfortable seeing start in a test. Frizell, Taufua, Barrett, JTA, Perry, Ofa, Savea, Fifita and even L Whitelock to name a few. It just shows that having Super Rugby depth doesn't necessarily mean that you will have a lot of International quality depth.

Ardie is not effective at the core roles of a 7 let alone an 8. Shit selection, Todd is miles ahead of him.
Akira missing out is crazy. Hansen has made some pretty stupid selections that smack of arrogance in recent times, and Frizzel (who?) is another. This shit already cost us our unblemished record against Ireland.
Our loose forwards are the most underwhelming I've seen in a very long time. If that's who we are going to put out then England and SA will be licking their lips later in the year.

I’m pretty happy for the 10 crusaders that got picked.I said he’s had other defensive lapses this year too. The highlanders loss recently springs to mind. Christian Cullen pointed out a couple in that game on one of the sky analysis shows.
I’ve said on here before I think Akira can be a great all black.
What’s wrong with making him work for it?

Surely they want the team to win as well, which means they are selecting the best group they feel can achieve that; arrogance would be deliberately choosing a weak team to show how good you are.
I think Akira would thrive in the AB environment, not having to carry half his team.
