Blues all time XV

Maybe.. But he did play well when he got game time for the Blues.
The weird thing about his AB selection was that he was largely considered a 13 who sometimes played wing for Auckland/Blues
When Rupeni was out Gear went to the wing and Mils was centre[edit]small correction, he was selected as a centre/wing reserve for the AB's. Injuries forced him to start at 15 in his second Test[edit]

DowdNailed it.
Tuitupu + E. Clarke in midfield don't make a good combination. Tuitupu was too one dimensional. I would go with Lee Stensness who was a complete footballer who created a lot of tries for this mates.
Tuitupou wasn't one dimensional, he was just an outstanding hitter, so some people incorrectly jump to one dimensional. He was a deft distributor.

I don't think that is true, but don't have my almanacks over here yet, he played the final at least in 2003.
I take it back. Had a quick check, Mils started more than Gear. Gear still played more than Rupeni surprisingly.. but Gear was the one moving around to cover other peoples injuries

@mn5 the fact that it's you asking this question just fits so well when you look at the periods they played in.
You might want to jump on the Canes thread and query the selection of Perenara over Preston.
Marty Berry hasnt even been mentioned as an option. I have no time for that thread.
Blowers did win more titles than Braid. Again, genuine question.

to be fair, on the wings you have Joeli, Jonah, Rokocoko, Howlett, Rupeni
It's ridiculous the quality of player they have to leave out

Play Olo Brown out of position
Someone made a mistake. It's not a big deal. Olo finished up in 1998, that's a whole Hoskins Sotutu life time ago. Depending on people ages it's an easy detail to get wrong

(or a journeyman like Dowd)
I picked this one.
To be clear, if I was judging their overall careers (AB's etc) it wouldn't be close, Woodcock would win easily. TW played better rugby at Test level than he did for the Blues IMO. Still very good for the Blues of course.
I'm comfortable leaning towards the great front row combo of the first few years -

I'm comfortable leaning towards the great front row combo of the first few yearsI get where you're coming from but Dowd had the advantage of playing for one of the greatest Super teams ever and Woody - didn't. No wonder he looked good.
