    One of the side effects of having sports across different networks in a small country.

    Also consider that Sky has given Ian Jones two decades worth of work.

    Amazing.

    Not wanting to be mean, but .....

    @Bovidae "Ian Smith should be enjoyed while he's still around ….few carry the weight of Smith's".

    Ignoring the fact that the article is actually wrong i.e. Smith's perfectly capable of cheerleading what's truly remarkable is the guy's longevity given he's been advised to change his lifestyle to extend his innings but can't help gourmandising on the Sky expense account.

    They say TV makes you look fatter. Having seen Smithy in the flesh only a few months ago he's obviously the exception to the rule.

    The headline is accurate but sadly for all the wrong reasons.

    As expected Spark Sport are rolling out Scotty Stevenson as one of their cricket commentators. BMac seems likely to be one of the ex-players used.

    I haven't used Spark Sport since the RWC but as expected they will be increasing their monthly price from $19.99/month to $24.99/month on 4 September unless you have a Spark mobile or broadband plan, where you get a $5 monthly credit automatically applied to your Spark bill.

    They would have relied on the football fans and petrol-heads moving from Sky.

    Lots of archive cricket games it seems. The Bangles and WI tours later in the year aren't exactly top quality NZ cricket to look forward to.

    I find it strange that they are persevering with sports streaming when they have bailed on entertainment streaming ( selling Lightbox to Neon).
    The content battle for sports is even harder.

    Maybe because they want to continue to cock block Vodafone?

    Has anyone seen any recent news on how Spark Sport is tracking? The article below is from last month, but was the first sign of some possible change

    It'll be interesting to see how many do sign up for the cricket. I'm holding out till the last possible minute... (free to air on Friday night, at the ground yesterday, I almost hit "add Spark Sport" tonight until I saw the rain resume outside 🙂 ). I'll cave eventually and sign up, but I wonder how many people won't...

    @Donsteppa good question.

    I signed up, cricket is nice and some non-sky NFL is a nice wee bonus.

    No interest is signing up. Not worth the money for me when I have Sky Sport. I can get my cricket fix from the radio, going to games and Sky still have BBL and Aussie cricket. The Windies and Pakistan rarely put on good shows. The Aussies are the only interesting challenge for this summer.
