If there's one thing you shouldn't fuck with in NZ it's RWC coverage. Spark may need to change their branding and name again if this doesn't go smoothly.

TVNZ appear to have played this perfectly.

Have only copied and pasted the bits about broadcasting rights & pricing:
Aggressive new broadcasting entrant Spark Sport has reaffirmed its interest in rugby content and backed the Nations Championship concept as New Zealand Rugby looks for ways to fill its coffers and keep its best players.
Since it secured the rights to the Rugby World Cup, Spark has not been afraid of admitting that it is in the market for more rugby rights. "We've been quite open that we're interested in all sports rights going forward, including rugby," Latch said. That puts it in direct competition against Sky Sports, and creates the sort of competitive tension that NZR is likely benefit from.
"I haven't had any conversations with anybody about the rights for this new championship but because of the number of fixtures involved, and the teams involved, I guess the thinking is that it's quite a compelling array of rugby content, and high quality rugby content, and therefore would have a reasonably significant value for broadcasters," he said.
However, he was less certain about Sanzaar proceeding with a competition to bring in Japan and Fiji if the northern unions walked away. "There could be value but it would be reduced relative to having everyone in," Latch said.
Latch said Spark would also release its Rugby World Cup pricing plans "within the next two weeks", although he wouldn't comment on whether $100 was still a ballpark figure for the cost of a complete Rugby World Cup package. However, users would still be able to pick and choose which games they wanted to buy on an individual basis. Former Sky Sports presenter Scott Stevenson will be a central figure in Spark's coverage, Latch confirmed, with "a mix of leading rugby personalities" to be unveiled within the next month or so.

When did I miss that happening?

He has joined TVNZ and Spark for World Cup and beyond. Maybe confirmed about 4(?) months ago?

Not sure I like that much as most of the rugby personalities running around add nothing of any benefit. In fact they often detract from it.

Not really to do with the RWC, but I didn't know where else to post this.
I was about to sign up to Fanpass but the very day I started the process, they whacked the price up to $99/month.
I'll probably give the $38.99 package for 6 months min a go as a result of their price drop.
-
If they did full games available on replay, not their shit 10 mins build up, 10 mins post match, 5 mins highlights it might be coming close to worth it.
I will stick with rugbypass which has pretty much every game on the planet, in full (or decent length highlights), for whenever I want to watch it, including a back catalogue of a year. For less.

@Bones You'll need a VPN, configure it for HK or the like, but such a good deal. Max 720P and via VPN (so live is a good 30 sec delayed) but soooooooooo much rugby. Owned by some kiwis
Yeah I just had a quick look but it's really unclear what matches you might get and where. I'm off to oz for a few weeks so looking for something temporary and decent to keep up with super rugby.

You get everything around the world, all tournaments, but you need a VPN Premiership, Top14, Pro 14, Super rugby, all the internationals. They haven't got RWC sadly. But you need a VPN, set it to HK or Singapore and you're good to go. When looking at the page get your VPN on, cos it doesn't give all the options if you're showing an NZ IP

I've, um, heard that a lot of the decent streams available to those rascals who might want to watch illegitimate coverage for free online come straight from Rugbypass. Quality is fine and the price is excellent for those scoundrels, apparently.
