England have lost one of their starting defenders (Guscoth) to a ruptured Achilles. No injury replacements allowed.
That's harsh
I can understand why the rule is in place. It's a short tournament with games each day, so you can't disadvantage teams like NZ, Aust etc who would have to fly a replacement player in compared to the hosts. Sokolich-Beatson had to fly back to NZ once Rore was confirmed to be fit.

That's why they have a 2 day stand down for injury replacements at RWC.

@booboo but RWC’s go for ages compared to the the Netty.
True enough.
But still harsh to 80% (?) Zof the tournament withh 11 players

Any thoughts how we'll go in the NWC?
We have the easier side of the draw - almost as if it was designed for us to qualify.
Other semi-finalists should be England Jamaica and Oz.
Just like CWC there could well be a new name on the trophy at the end of the Championship.
It is conceivable that neither Oz nor NZ make the Final
I read it differently.
From what I can tell - If we beat Australia Thursday night we'll most likely play South Africa in the semi finals. If we lose to Australia we'll play England.
Whilst it looks like we avoid Australia in the semis it seems we are likely to come up against England.
If the Ferns were to upset the Diamonds they would top Group F, avoiding a potential semifinal showdown with hosts England, who will likely finish first in Group G. Lose to Australia and it would be a big ask for the Ferns to knock over England, should they qualify top, in a semifinal at a parochial M&S Bank Arena.

@KiwiMurph I think we are talking about different things I meant we are in the easier side of the draw to qualify for the semi's. Oz and NZ are pretty much the guaranteed semi finalists from Group F and were destined to be so before the championships started. Group G has England, Jamaica and South Africa - all of who could beat NZ - so if we were on the other side of the draw we would be in a 3 way scrap to make the semi's
I can't see us making the final let alone winning it. Noelene Taurua has a history of turning everything she touches to gold but I think this is beyond her. Our team is old. They couldn't do it when they were at their peaks - I don't think they have a last hurrah in them.
I will be more than happy to eat a massive portion of humble pie if I am wrong

The Ferns fall short to the aussies again, this time in pool play. The margin was a single goal
Which was missed by Folau in the dying seconds I hear? Bloody good fight back after being down about 8 goals at one stage. Great to see.
I didn't watch, but apparently she only came on late so could be forgiven for missing the tying shot

According to the pundits, it didn't matter in the greater scheme of things as NZ would still have come 2nd in the group, so they reckon she won't be fussed.

Ferns second half was brilliant. They won both the 3rd and 4th quarters.
A great hit out before the semis and should give the team a lot of self belief.
We looked good but still have room to improve. Nice to see.

I thought we looked shit for 90% of the game and the result flatters us.
It followed the theme of a lot of trans- Ta$man contests Aussies are in control, relax a little we turn it round (can happen quickly in Netball) but ultimately come up short.
We looked a lot better when Mrs Bigot was off but basically all three of our shooting options are confidence players who get rattled easily. They can have a hot streak but against that Diamonds defence I very much doubt if we can sustain it across the hour.
They also pretty much bossed us in mid court.

It looks like Noeline mixed and matched her 7 during the game but she will need to settle on her preferred starters and stick with them in the SF unless something goes pear-shaped. The shooters put up 2 more goal attempts than Aust so it will come down to accuracy against Mentor and co.
