NRL 2018

I think there is more that went on behind the scenes at Penrose that led to some of the comments from both parties. I noted that SJ was much more level-headed when interviewed at the airport after returning from Sydney. Someone probably had a word in his ear.
What I have found the most interesting are the comments from former teammates about SJ, and most of it isn't flattering.

The Warriors don't need Nikorima. Sneak, is this move going to upset me in years to come in a Luke Lewis kind of way?
-
@Nepia apparently Kearney is ok with trying out some of the young up and comers as part of pre-season. That does sound risky to me, but I think they are keeping their powder dry (have been talking to Hansen and co) as they can buy a player right up to the season starting. We might risk losing the chance to nab Kodi etc but we could also get him, or someone else, on a better deal.
On one hand I like the fact they aren't rushing into anything. But on the other hand messing around with your play-maker selection and recruitment isn't a great idea either.

Hee hee. Yeah, lets not have a settled squad with one of the playmakers TBC depending on how some young blokes go in a trial and whether all the centres can be fit in considering that Kata is undroppable.*
- As noted below I'm in a continual state of pissed off with the Warriors so this just adding more fuel to the fire for me.

yea, as opposed to jamming in a player who may not fit just because he is available, on a multi-year deal, which would be an excellent way to move forward.

When did you take up the role as designated Warriors fluffer? I expect to see you aboard the wagon even after the wheels fall off next season and not disappear to Aussie basketball, aerial ping pong and cricket threads.
-
Yep, let's be purposeful about who we pick up. Not to mention looking at how that one million opens up other recruitment options.

for someone who continually craps on about how little you care about the Warriors, you have been in full attack mode since SJ (rightly) got the rissole.
Commenting that the Warriors are, for once, looking like a professional sporting organisation, rather than a place that gathers to pay kiwi league players far more than their market value for very little return, is hardly fluffing them.
If we blow the cap space created by SJ next year, and presumably Luke the year after, on aging under-performing kiwis i will be the first to call it.
I am actually astounded you haven't mentioned Benji Marshall even once. Surely if you think he is still good enough to play for NZ, he's good enough for a club season...
-
@mariner4life I never say I don't care, I just hate them for continually letting me down, although TBF maybe by the end of the season I don't care, generally around the time they've all given up caring as well.

It could very well be a bad decision by the club to not at least make an offer. Hope it's just some tough haggling from the Warriors but if they pass you have to think the Tigers will attempt to make a move (with McGuire being the new coach).
Nikorima provides a solution for the club at halfback but even if one of the young prospects (Lawton, Harris-Tavita, Keighran) excels next year (possible but not really probable) than Nikorima can be the answer at hooker in 2020 going forward.
-
@sneakdefreak I think we are hedging and could well make a play for him. But fully agree that other clubs may make an offer in the meantime. Ha ha the NRL never rests!!
-
@paekakboyz Listening to Brian Smith on the sport news he doesn't actually say the Warriors aren't interested in acquiring Nikorima, just that the Warriors haven't received or made an offer as reported by Aussie media.
He'll be a Warrior before Christmas.
-
True! No use of the 'we are exploring all avenues' which is usual double speak for 'fuck knows bro'. I think he could work out well on the back of his northern tour form.
-
Fucking SJ is absolutely taking the piss, or he is completely lacking in self awareness.
He's moved the Cronulla to win a premiership, where he can "add value"
Well Shaun, you fuck. You were in a final a couple of months ago. How about adding value then? Instead of disappearing in to a hole in the ground. Teams win premierships because their halves play dominant footy. That's fucking you Shaun.
I hope the Sharks are a dumpster fire.
-
Dude has zero self awareness. End of. A real pity as a bit more resilience and bit less of the me, me, me would probably see him perform at that higher level he's wanking on about.
-
@majorrage was just about to say the same thing. How is he supposed to endear himself to the locals without selling himself and addressing his new team as contenders.
"Nah im shit mate. Thats why the warriors turfed me and the only team with enough money to buy me was this shit hole. Nice beaches though. Chur"
-
Cronulla's merry collection of grubs might be without it's head grub, with Flanagan facing possible de-registration by the NRL. Apparently the investigation in to the Salary cap issues (conveniently for the NRL either side of their premiership year, but not their actual premiership year) found a bunch of emails from Flanagan that show he was still making decisions for the club while suspended for their peptides program.
Fuck off Shane.
