Fatbusting: Kirwan's log
-
Massive increase in energy levels, which is great for my kids. My weekdays are 12 hour, full on, non-stop kids + work. It took a big effort to add exercise in (usually at lunch time), but it's actually made things easier.<br />
<br />
Basically, I was on the road to a heart attack being that fat (and getting puffed walking up the driveway), so was time to do something about it. Just over halfway, still am overweight just not grossly so now!<br />
<br />
That first picture was the thing that spurred me on, I got a bit of a shock. Even my wife didn't notice it going up as it's so gradual.<br />
<br />
(third day in a row in the 70s whoohoo)
<br />
<br />
Won't ask what the wife things of this lol!!<br />
<br />
Yeah it can be tough for people that are around you all the time - it just creeps up. Then you see that mate/family member (the once in a blue moon visit folk) and they go "Shit!! you got fat!" fantastic for the ol self esteem. -
A maintenance week this one, had four days in the 70s now two at 80.1 and 80 on the nose. I've found I go up until I have my cheat day then in drops after that.<br />
<br />
Had a good exercise week, a long run, my "fitness test" interval row, and a good 19km cycle (Paraparaumu to Waikanae and back over a bike trail, was great!). And a row or a run due on Saturday. Fitness is starting to kick in now. One week to my trip, I think I'm going to struggle to get under 79kg but I have a full week planned to get close.<br />
<br />
Getting there slowly, happy to be maintaining the 7kg loss at this point. Then it becomes a nice easy, lose 5kgs target. Not so daunting. -
Bit of a rubbish weekend as I was a bit sick, but still managed a 13km bike yesterday. Weight is at it's lowest point since I started, 79.5kg so half a kg to lose in five days <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Nice small mini target before the trip.

Nicely on target at 79.3kg, racing towards the 8kg loss mark. Feel like death warmed up at the moment, don't think I hydrated properly yesterday.<br />
<br />
Just lost a day off my week, as I'll be travelling to Auckland on Friday for work. So three days to lose 0.3kg, as long as I keep the diet clean it should happen. -
Good work Kirwan. Looks like a massive change.<br />
<br />
I have been around 75kg for the last 10 years. Still reckon I am 5kgs overweight though.<br />
<br />
My saving grace is my lack of alcohol consumption, I reckon that makes a massive difference. -
spot on baron - booze is the one. I was never a heavy drinker, but over summer a couple of bottles a night (stubbies), soon adds up - many unwanted calories that just pack on around the waist!
<br />
<br />
I dunno, if you balance it out with not eating whilst out on the piss you can get the weight right down, after all in London I got to an all time high 108kg but then shrunk to 90kg by not eating whilst on the piss and forgetting breaky. ( I drunk quite a bit in those days to put it mildly but for whatever reason tended to avoid the late night curries/chips/pies that my mates were demolishing, maybe I wanted to keep the last few quid for another ale ) <br />
<br />
This is definitely not recommended in the slightest but perhaps an example that alcohol maybe isn't particularly bad for weight if you're not overeating. -
true, when you get pissed you eat shite - goes together like fish and chips. But the booze by itself is a huge empty calorie intake, the food is just topping it off - a couple of beers a night probably pushes you into taking in more than you spend calorie wise, unless you are in a very labour intensive job. Not like us here on the fern!!

Thanks, am looking forward to getting around there at some point before my birthday. Been in Chicago since Saturday and have been drinking every. single. day. The guy I'm staying with has beer for breakfast, lunch and a six pack for dinner. Happy that tonight was only a pint.<br />
<br />
Been too busy to overeat at least. And next week is the drinking section of the trip. The sound you can hear is my liver screaming. -
Sorted out overeating tonight (flash restaurant, on the company). Nightclubs tomorrow, New Orleans next week. Diet is fucked <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Eleven days of drinking beer and eating pizza and I put on 0.7 of a kg, pretty bloody happy with that. Helps that I was mostly working 10-12 hour days and didn't have time to eat a huge amount.<br />
<br />
Been years since I drank like that, and turning up to a conference at 8am to see 300 horrifically hungover people was very, very funny.<br />
<br />
Right, now off to get it back under 80 and head towards the 77kg goal.
