@mn5 because he bats with far and away the most overrated batsmen of his generation.
I think he'll rate with the very best Oz batsmen when he retires which is some effort all things considered.
-
Note how Smith has said he is sorry for 'trying to bring the game into disrepute' ummm pretty sure you actually did bro.
-
@mn5 said in Convicts v Marxist Land Thieves - Crucket:
Fuck sake Smith. You're far and away the best batsman of this generation. Why sink to this level?
I know, he's such a talent but now this is all he will be remembered for (and rightly so). But fucking hell, what was he thinking?

How is it being taken in oz mate? I don't think Aussies particularly like obvious proven cheaters normally do they?

The term unaustralian is being thrown around an awful lot.
Pretty much everyone is calling for heads to roll.
They are saying this is the worst controversy since the Underarm and worse than that.
-
bit of a clusterfuck all round, this tour has made alot of headlines.
-
So did Bancroft confess when confronted by the umpires on the field and that's why Steve Smith had to admit it in the press conference?
I'm not surprised by the cheating, it's the fact they have so easily given up trying to spin their way out of it. That's not the Australia I know....
-
Ha ha doully's got yellow tape on in the tea break show 😁

Doull has a point, Aus are far from the only team that has done this. The English "shining" the ball on the zips on their pants, players using mints to shine the ball etc.
This seems more blatent and they've been caught red handed, but it's a part of the game that has been there since the start.
If they wany to crack down on it then they need to start consistently handing out serious punishments for all forms of tampering.

Some of the outrage I have seen is a little over the top. It's cheating - Smith should be sacked as captain and others should be banned for a few games. It's not one of cricket's darkest days though. Faf Du Plessis has done a similar thing and there is little outrage. Obviously his actions weren't as premeditated but he still denied it after being caught red handed. Definitely the players shouldn't be banned by the ICC for more than a couple of games. What CA does is up to them.
-
I am struggling to generate much outrage tbh
-
If the captain of an international sporting team conspiracing to cheat with 3 or 4 other team mates ( and likely the coach too) doesn’t cause outrage for you I’m not sure what can
-
Only so many threads to spread the outrage over? 🎣

Child abuse, inheritance taxes. 2 examples off the bat

There is a difference between shining a ball and damaging it in order to artificially produce reverse swing.

@baron-silas-greenback if that's the bar this sort of thing wouldn't make the top hundred... or even top thousand depending on how itemized you got. Almost worth not even posting about.
Unless you're in a sports forum of course

Wrong forum then, definitely the wrong thread
