Black Caps vs Windies Series

The Windies will lose this by at least 150, and that's if they bat well. No worries.

Yep. This team is poor.
Great work Rossco.

@mariner4life Yep - there's only been five fourth innings totals higher than 443 in the entire history of test cricket. None of them won.
Kane could have let us at least get to 452 and then there would have been only one total higher!

That's quite a telling stat. A wicket or two now is not out of the question against a disinterested and talentless team.

.....aaand there's the first one.

@virgil lofty heights for BCs having two guys averaging about 28 and the other 31.
Good thing is with this team at the moment is different people are standing up to be counted, we are not relying on 2 or 3 people to come up with the goods every time. -
Absolutely stoked for Rosco, superb 100 to honour his mentor. What a player, an all time NZ great.

Love to see Roscoe get a lot more test tons but for now it’s entirely fitting he’s sitting equal with Crowe
He'll be racing KW to 20. I wonder who is odds on to make it first?
This situation is ideal for old mate Southern to have a swing and crush the Windies spirits all over again.
Depends if the black caps play any more tests in the next few years..

Plenty of talk about our best 3,4 batting lineup etc but surely Boult, Southee and Wagner would rank up there as one of our best bowling trio’s?
No paddles or Bond in there but as a pack they compliment each other perfectlyDifferent ways of balancing an attack but much of Hadlee's success was helped by Chatfield. I wonder how Boult would go with a Chats drying up one end instead of Southee's erracticness.
-
Not that I think it will happen in this case, but Doull (I think) made the point that the highest successful run chases were mostly only 4 or 5 wickets down. Who knows what they might have chased down if they hadn't won in the meantime?
We are playing a team that has an incorrectly spelt Reifer batting with Roach. Hopefully one of them will name their daughter Mary Jane. I just wanted one of the Ganga brothers to come in next, but sadly they have retired I think. We probably should have declared at 420 ahead to continue the theme.

As good as they are none of them are a patch on paddles but as @Virgil said it's pretty hard to think of a better trio. Shame Bracewell has gone off the rails for whatever reason.

@mn5 what has allrounder Bracewell got to do with it?
He wouldn't be getting any games even if he wasn't hanging out with Jesse all the time...I still have fond memories of his Michelle to beat Oz in Oz but then again that was a loooong time ago now.

Boult, Southee and Wagner are ranked 6,12 and 4 on the all time NZ averages.
In 1973 we had a lineup of Hadlle, Collinge, Bruce Taylor (supported by Dayle Hadlee and Congdon). Hadlee was only starting out but on the all-time list these guys are ranked 2, 7 and 3
Nash, Doull and Cairns are up there when you look at it this way as well. 5,8 and 9
Just a shame that Bond never had any backup.
