Scotland v Australia

Discipline has been a big issue for us of late. Combine that with a lack of some key personnel, and a general inability to hold composure, and we're going to run hot n cold for some time yet.
But as Virgil said: Cheika has the job until end of 2019 because RA can't afford to pay him out.
Dave Wessels for Wallaby coach

Go Scotland! Some adventurous play and they took any sniff Aussie gave em. Some piss poor D by Australia mixed in with cracking attack from Scotland. Red card all day for Kepu - wonder if SBW has sent Beale a cheeky text 😁

@barbarian how is Cheika going to be in trouble?
RA can't afford shit right now, much less contract buyouts. Players love him as you've said - which I agree with, BTW. But we're now stuck with the ultimate result of a decade of mismanagement, from the supposed top "rugby men" in this country.
$45M war chest from RWC 2003 pissed away doing the same old thing, rather than addressing our grass roots issues, realigning our base (esp schools), and putting ourselves on the right path.
We're in a more difficult situation than RSA in some ways: while they have political interference driving transformation, they at least have a shitload of players to pick from, and lack coaching.
We seem to lack coaching, but have half a dozen players we can't seem to do without. And a guy internal politics pissing all over everything
So find the money* to dispose of Cheika, then what?
Let's hope Dave Wessels is ready, and our provinces have a better season.
*Twiggy need not apply.

@nta Mark Hammett is good at restoring culture, I'm sure one of the Cantabs has his number on speed dial - in 4 seasons time under a new coach you'll start winning things again!

Only just tuned in. Who of the Wallabies got the RC and why?
Kepu. For shoulder charge to head. Simple decision for the ref.
I feel like I'm watching the SH rugby empire crumble...with only one small village and their magic potion ("aura") holding out.
It was only a matter of time really before Kepu got a red, he sails close to the wind week in week out.

Yeah he probably does, though that is the fine line between enforcement and stupidity.
That was a red every day of the week.
But you see cleanouts like that almost every game, so we should look at more red cards. There was some tweets floating around this morning showing the Vunipola "cleanout" during the Lions series and one by Cane in the same game.

Cheika seemed to be partially blaming Watson for Kepu's hit in the presser. Bizarre.
Just watched it. I think he was just trying to mitigate the connection with the head. Said there can't be any complaints about the red.
He needs to address the fact there was no effort at all to use arms.

Part of Australia's problem in rugby union is that the Wallabies exist almost purely to try to beat the All Blacks. Their marketing budget lives and dies on the Wobs scoring the odd win against their trans- Ta$man foe. That's because the Bledisloe is virtually the only union game that gets bums on seats here and even on that score they're struggling these days.
So typically the Wallabies' win against a depleted and unmotivated All Blacks in the dead-rubber cash-in third Bledisloe in Brisbane gave them a false sense of hope. They bask in the glow of trans- Ta$man confected glory for five minutes then go back to getting beaten by Scotland and being totally ignored by the news media here.
Worse, the superstructure of Wallabies rugby is erected above a decaying and neglected base rapidly sinking under assault from the other codes - even soccer these days.
That the Wallabies still sit so highly in the IRB dodgy rankings is the greatest wonder of it all.

@mrdenmore Kearns is making a power play to be the next ARU CEO according to the rumour mill. That should fix everything.

If it gets him off our screens and out of my ears, then all power to him. Someone please promote this career path to Meg Marshall on this side of the Ta$man.
