All Blacks vs Boks

I remember the bad old days when a line out against the boks, whether our ball or theirs, was a thing to watch with fear and trepidation.
This new shit bok lineout isn't much entertainment anymore.
Really? Quite enjoy it myself. Like a bit of comedy.

Have we ever down troued the Boks before? Beating them to nil has a nice ring to it.
A quick search reveals that it has happened at least three times before
1921 00 - 00 @ Athletic Park
1965 13 - 00 @ Carisbrook
1999 28 - 00 @ CarisbrookThey have got us back three times as well
1921 00 - 00 in Wellington
1928 00 - 17 in Durban
1960 00 - 13 in JohannesburgWe are still on track to beat the highest winning margin at home of 33 (40 - 07 in Wellington) and the highest winning margin of 42 (57 - 15 last year in Durban)
Aah Higgybaby already onto it.
I filtered by wins so missed the nil all.
Add in Cape Town 19-0 though.

@pukunui BB could have scored it, but I guess he thought NMS coulda got closer to posts than him....IF another wing is playing they don't anticipate the intercept to use thier pace to score.
Yes speed is great but isn't everything.

@Stargazer I thought he actually played well, especially if you compare him on attack to Barrett - who I thought took some awful options.
Bones, you know there are some players you are not allowed to rate ...

NMS laboured to the corner when scoring his try though, seems to lack explosive pace

@Bones I shouldn't be commenting right now.
The interpretation of all the "contact off the ball" calls was comically bad. Obstruction, clearing past the ball, continuing after the whistle and rolling away was in no way rugby.
Offside was not policed.
Inexperience of the springbok team brutally exposed though. A better side would have identified the gap being afforded by the ref, but the Springbok team failed to take advantage of the opportunity to spoil when it was clearly being allowed
Yeah. He was soft on the Boks huh?

@booboo Not one complaint so far, I think?
I think he made a huge error in the Ioane try.
Where Smith took the quick tap from was a joke.
No wonder there was huge space to kick into if the ref allows an illegal quick tap, so quick not not even Nig nor Aaron's brain could successfully compute where the line of the offence was. What chance does the defensive wing/fullback have to mentally compute this and then plug the space.
This could almost be a copy and paste from one of my posts in the 'grind your gears thread'. It really grinds my gears.

@Rapido where do you draw the line, some refs are so pedantic about being on the exact spot, you may as well remove the ability to take a quick tap.
IMO as long as you are behind it and within a few metres I don't have an issue.

That Ofa fella has scrummed ok....
He always has, at test level.

The only time you can take a quick tap, legally, is from an offence where ref can physically mark the spot. E.g. An offside penalty or from an offence where play has subsequently moved off the spot. This is ignored in the modern game, but in this Nig didn't even enforce the modern reffing cop-out of making Smith tap it in line with where we know the spot is going to be. It was panicked reffing, no wonder the defence wasn't in place.
Quick tap tries are usually shit, cheapened soft shit. At least that was the first good quick tap try I have ever seen.
The sport would be less complicated if played and refed to the rules. Rather than rules that apply only sometimes , it's like there are 2 layers of rules/laws in our sport.

Yep, this. The laws as written, and the laws as applied.
I'm in yuuuge favour of a root and branch re-writing of the laws. Cover off stuff like how and when you can play the ball back in the ruck on the ground with your hands. Clarify tackling people in the air (diving for the tryline example)

So Sops to 10, BB to 15 and Dmac to 14?
Why have a midget as a winger? He really only is a FB at this point of time. He needs space to operate.

He made hard work of both tries. I don't know if his injuries have him down on pace but right now I'd prefer Naholo or Seta on the wing. Maybe Savea too.

I think I am moving into the camp that Ardie does not bring enough size. Just wondering if behind kaino, squire and Cane that Fafita can do more that what Ardie does. Not for moving backwards and advocating Todd. If your 29 odd and haven't cemented a place as an AB there is something missing.

Yeah Brad Thorn!
