So in Hamateur's first year involved the Highlanders they went from semi finalists to quarter finalists.
Conversely the Sunwolves doubled their win total after moving on from Hamateur.
Just proves the Canes and Sunwolves have been riding his coat tails....

Tough game for both sides. Saders smarter use of the ball and more accurate kicking game gave us great field position for large portions of the match.
Play of the match for me was Sam winning that breakdown penalty against Luke.

@ACT-Crusader Yes makes for some interesting conversations round the dinner table tonight
-
@Wreck-Diver I did say 'if' the canes can't

Also fuck tony brown ... saying he's happy to be playing the crusaders and has some tricks up his sleeve... totally out coached by Robertson
Why so snippy, you guys won.
Tony Brown was pretty magnanimous in his half time speech, he said that the Highlanders hadn't been able to execute their plan and the Crusaders had played well. Then he said if they can't turn it round then they were beaten by a better team.

@Rocky-Rockbottom did a Cantabrian steal your lollies?
-
@Rocky-Rockbottom we used to have red and black lollies but they weren't jaffas. Broke my heart the last time I went back 'home' and found the local supermarket no longer stocked them.

@Stargazer plenty of HIghlanders fans blaming the Gardner on social media.
-
@taniwharugby Ah, yeah, social media.
-
@Stargazer only 2 steps closer to insanity than here

Really? How are they twisting that!

@Bones tough to beat 16 men, favoured the Crusaders blah blah.
You sure it's not anti-crusader supporters? I.e. blues fans? 😁

Thought the ref played too long with the ball on the ground going over the line, but overall nothing much to complain about. The lottery of head shots and punishment remains - but that's not one ref, each week - it's all the time.
OUtstanding forward effort by the Red pack. Magnificent wet weather rugby.
Edit: I meant the try where the ball was short ,and then put over by momentum. I have never liked the new interpretation of that law from the last few years, but I'm really old school at times.

I hadn't even given the refereeing a thought, seems odd people would be saying that... although none of the Landers fans I know have said anything at all about the ref. We didn't even fire a shot.
I'm not sure whether it's becoming an increasing NZ fan trait or whether I'm just noticing it more lately. While the Hurricanes spent the first half on Friday night playing like they were the Warriors crossed with the Phoenix, in social media land the blithering of the Hurricanes was entirely the ref's fault...
