Read and Warburton should have an arm wrestle to settle it.
Boat race
Mike Ashley to referee

I'm unhappy with that decision however it should never have come to that. We can only blame ourselves. Credit to the Lions for their D and good goal kickers.
See this is the sort of arrogance I can't stand. Expecting the All Blacks to be up and have "put the game away". They're not robots. They make errors. They stuff up. All Blacks have been doing that since Adam wore the silverfern.
It's disappointing that something so clear cut was not ruled as it should've been even after being reminded of it by the All Black captain.
But sometimes it does come down to that last few moments because the way the game has gone brings it to that type of scenario.
Disappointing but it's only a game. Both sides deserve credit for doing things that created pressure for the other. Both forward packs were superb. The backs for both were very up and down.

Justin
Stop it
I've spent countless words defending your right as a great (yes "great") AB halfback.
You've earned the right to just about any indiscretion due to the 96 Springbok series alone. You smashed your body up to my great pleasure for nigh on a decade, and I can't appreciate that enough.
But, despite what the sky social media "executives" tell you...
STOP talking to us like we're dumb, blind sensitive fuckwits who can't recognise a spade when we see one.
Show some class and less apologies and ridiculous justin-fications
Great player in black though

If that's the article I read the other day - jeez, the guy sounds a cock, doesn't he? In court - his testimony/defence consisting of "I drink lots, you know, get it down ya, love it geezer"

Well, that's fucking disappointing.
My welsh friend happily emails me to tell me 'good result'. If it went the other way, there would literally be cops called to his apartment (edited).
The Lions are a good team, and became much much better during the tour. Having said that, they only scored in threes, and barely looking like scoring in the second half. They defended well though, and if you keep the ABs under 20, it becomes 50/50 for us. The key to beating (or fucking drawing) with us is just stoping us scoring points. Farrell was super clutch - it's great to see a guy who can do that, in that situation. Good on him.
Basically, we lost that game (OK, fine, it's a fucking draw, whatever). It's about execution for the ABs, due to the game plan we play. We've had a steady lowering of quality of execution in the past 18 months. That's probably natural because we just don't have the same quality of players as we used to, and injuries are really hurting us. We miss Coles - a lot. I don't think Taylor is the answer yet, but neither is Harris to be fair.
We've got a problem with our goal kicking, and the play of our 10 in running the game. It's a serious fucking problem, because Barrett is the best 10 we have in Super rugby, but he really struggled in this series. Like, fuck me gently, some people were looking for a Carter 2005 from him. How fucking far away from that level of play has he been? IMO, we would have easily won that game tonight with Carter - in current form - playing and taking the kicks. That's fucking worrying.
@Tim is right. Savea should be finished. He looks good in short bursts, then can't catch the fucking ball or fucks up the one chance he gets a game. The problem is that is his role - and he doesn't create anything any more.
I think this series really rams home to us that our golden era is over. We've been far too fucking lucky for far too fucking long. But, not this team.

Hmmm
Haven't read the thread.
I'm not going to get all pissy about that last decision.
It was a tough one. With my admitted bias I felt he played at it then realised he shouldn't have. If he'd left his arms down no argument but he tried to catch the ball.
My problem with that was the obvious lack of advantage!
FFS ALB was under the bar. Fuck me.

I'm guessing we will take this as a loss and they almost take it as a win ,
That's the part that sucks the most , it's more of a loss to us than them
Doubt it. The Lions players looked pretty disappointed as well. And why wouldn't they be. Good teams often stay in games when they are don't play the best. They would expect to win and they didn't, so naturally wouldn't be claiming any moral (Aussie) victory.

People are being harsh on Savea. I have no fucking clue why they picked him but they did. Then he dropped the ball with an open line with four minutes gone. Then he did what he does not normally do. He got involved in the game and made a lot of runs. Clearly Ioane was picked in the first place because they wanted speed. In this test they wanted power. I'm sure Naholo would be a fine left wing too but the AB's seem to like to have a specialist wing on each side. If you become a left wing, they don't seem to switch you to the right very often.
Julian Savea is currently the best power left wing in the country. If he is going to have a high workrate then that is probably enough to be in and around the team. Although I would rather have Ioane, Naholo, Ben Smith, Dagg and Jordie in a squad.

I'm with @Tim on Hansen getting stale. Too many stupid media games last week, then suddenly 'ah, it's just a game this week' (taking a pay cut accordingly then I assume), some odd selections, and a team that regressed on their basic skills during the series.
Agree with the comments on never wanting Gatland to coach the AB's, but it better not be Ian Fucking Foster either...

Agree 100%. Let's see where Beauden goes from here, but this HAS to end Hansen's indifference to our goal kicking. He has openly chastised media who've asked him about Beauden's kicking (or lack of it for the Canes). If you want to crap on about structure and culture and dedication Beauden has to learn how to goal kick - simple.

What an awesome series. Well done Lions.
Wouldve been a shit way to decide the series with that penalty.
ABs had their chances but blew a heap - usually they say the ABs are so clinical - not tonight.
On the positive how good was Jordie - amazing performance - I even saw him pull off a wonder cover tackle.

Why would they be disappointed? They chose the long range penalty over going for the win in the 76th minute? Clearly a draw was enough at least for Warburton.

Think they were hoping for a further chance at a last minute long range penalty...
